If you car is a 1992-1995 all the engines had the same 8 bit ecu so id dont matter. If the car is a 1995 onwards it had the 16bit ecu and will requoire a diffferent pfc. what year exactly is the car? Everything you need to know is here http://paulr33.skylinesaustralia.com...owerfc-faq.htm

You can buy brand new model pfc from nengun japan. www.nengun.com I have just got one for £380 delivered. This is poss the cheapest you will find

cheers for the link.
Have you got a link to the actual product on the nengun website, as all I could see was discontinued ones.

My RX is a 1993 model, but the previous owner put an engine from a 'newer' RX in there, and I'm unsure of the year of it!

If your car is a 1993, you will need the product code 414-AZ004 which is december 1991 upto november 1995. The list is here (scroll down to 414-AZ004)
http://www.nengun.com/electronics/ap...and-controller

If the owner put a newer engine, there is a possibility he may have changed the ecu with it to a later 16bit ecu. Mazda updated the ecu to 16bit in dec 1995. The ecu plug is different to the 8 bit ecu 1992 plugs so you need to take a look at the plug on your ecu and determine wether it is 8bit or later 16bit. Take a look here for detailed info http://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=598907

Robbie,
The previous owner did inform me that when the engine swap was done, apparantly the 'newer' engine plugged directly into the existing wiring loom, so surely this means the engine is still a pre-95 one, right?!
Also, how long did it take for yours to arrive from them, on which service?
Cheers mate.

Simon, cheers for that link too.

To be fair Alex it will probably take about 3-4 weeks in total for it to be delivered from Nengun.
I ordered mine from there earlier than I wanted it so that by the time it comes I'll have everything else in place so can then get mapped.
Ordered mine 27th December and expect it by end of Jan.

Robbie, I will be getting it sent with the plain packaging and will be sent to Haywards. I'm hoping this should bypass the charges?!

fitted this yesterday, took about 1 hour and WOW throttle response is quicker, idle is more steady, transition between pri and sec turbos is smoother and thats on a stock R1 with k&n filters best thing i've bought for the car yet!
