Hi all,
I've just paid a deposit for a 3rd gen RX7 and I was wondering if someone can give me an idea what to look for when I pick it up, to make sure it's all ok.
I've attached a picture.
Cheers

Make: Mazda RX7 Type-R
Year: 1992
Capacity: 1306cc Rotary Twin Turbo
Mileage: 48,950 miles
Spec: It includes usual RX7 specification, ABS, 4 piston front callipers, fully independent double alloy wishbones, electric windows, mirrors, Air con, power steering, central locking, fitted mats, and 2+2 sports interior.
About the car: We have been looking for a car like this for quite some time. RX7’s with Veilside bodykits are extremely desirable and rare, and the Japanese do not like to see them leave there country. For a 1992 vehicle it s in lovely good condition. The mileage is also well below average for a car of this year. Before we purchased the car we had to have full approval by my specialist mechanics in Japan. This has to be one of the most beautiful RX7 to touch the UK shores, with a huge spec list!!
Aftermarket Modifications:
Interior: After Market leather Momo sports steering wheel. Aluminium gear shifter. Sports pedals. HKS turbo timer and Blitz boost gauge. Silver inserts around dash dials. Top quality Alpine head unit (CD) and graphic equaliser.
Exterior: Full Veilside Bodykit, which is extremely expensive and rare. Professionally fitted and re-sprayed in metallic blue. 17 inch split rim Mazda speed alloys. The alloys have a flip effect, and change to silver and gold in different light. Low profile tyres. Alloys and tyres alone exceed £2000.
Mechanics: Twin APEXI induction kit. Stainless steel Japanese spec exhaust system, made by FUJITUBO. Uprated Shock absorber made by .JAM (tokiko).

Hi Matt,
It doesn't sound too bad, but do you know if they have changed the ECU on the car?
Any change to the exhaust really requires and uprated ECU I think. It all adds to wear and tear on the engine, specially as changes in the exhaust usually create boost spikes and boost creep which lean out the engine (potentially causing detonation).
If you can - before purchasing, try to get a compression check done by someone like Geff at www.reworx.co.uk - that is if they will allow you to.

wont be so rare once here and you see the half dozen veil kitted rx's over here.
Nice clean look motor though.

Cheers for the help. I'll see if I can get the compression test done and see if they also allow rac inspections as well.

Matt, your better off getting ReWorx or one of the other specailists to come and check it over. AA/RAC sometimes know what they are looking at on a normal car, but the RX-7 is a different beast all together.
