The rebuild is now complete, many thanks to Pip at WGT for bringing the beast back to life.Just got to carefully put some miles on her now to run the engine in.
Even on a light throttle it feels like an epic engine,it's hard not to fall in love when you drive a 20B Cosmo,so much torque when compared to the 13B in my RX-7.
That blast across Europe now looms on the horizon......:D

Ah, the emotions of a fresh engine just waiting to explode under the leaded foot of a willing rotorhead.
Love that fresh engine feeling. They feel so strong when they are under 10k km old.
Go hard mate, show some fools what they are missing out on. The motorways are the Cosmo's forte so make sure thats where you show off its abilities.
Just make sure you get past that 180kph speed cut. Would be really frustrating when your teaching some Porsche guy a lesson only to have him fly past while your stuck at the limiter

You took the words right out of my mouth!
It feels a much stronger engine than before the rebuild, better throttle repsonse and that big wave of torque to fire you down the road.
Fast straight roads are it's hunting ground and yes any chance I get I'll be giving those Porsches a workout!!
Still taking it easy at the moment though so as to carefully run the engine in.
Glad you posted as I have a couple of questions, firstly how is the top speed limiter removed and secondly is there a way to convert the clock to read 180mph instead of 180kph?

Cheers Tim!:wave
Yup - recently completed running the engine in,having some fun with the car now.
This car is FAST,much quicker than before the rebuild, the way it picks up speed and flings itself down the road is amazing for such a big heavy car.It would out accelerate my RX-7 between 80-120mph.
Great fun because drivers of hothatches, sportscars etc just don't know what the hell it is!
Cheers

Go hard mate.
If you can't afford the US$1800 for the RE-Amemiya ECU upgrade, then get an APEXi RVSM as it comes with a speed cut defender.
Usually around the US$250 area, they are worth their weight in gold.
The standard 180kph speed limiter would be so restrictive on your motorways.
I've got the RE-Amemiya ECU & have done a few runs into the 250kph area. Can tell you that at just 6000rpm in top gear, there was plenty of room for more.....:D

Thanks for the tips mate!
I won't be able to stretch to the ECU so I'll look into the Apexi unit to delimit the car.Are the Apexi rev speed meters universal or would I need one specific to the Cosmo?
Cheers

The RSM is universal. They come with a diagram of the Mazda ECU's to show you where to plug the wires into.
An english version is available on-line from Trust USA I am told
