Found this link. They guy seems to argue that the 2 piece Ianetti seals are the daddy of seals.

He seems to think that the two piece are better than the one piece, less chance of them rubbing.

Hi Danny,
Quite good info on here but note to all that Francesco himself does not recommend 2 piece seals in turbo engines unless they are around stock levels of boost,this is because the 2 piece can fail at the end of the tip.
He recently explained to me that there is a guy running a 3 rotor in the States who is outputting 1000 hp and likes to use 2 piece seals but has had breakage and still insist's on using them even though Francesco would prefer he did not.
At the end of the day it all comes down to costs and whether you want more reliability or not.
