Does anyone know what ever happened to Mazdas fleet of hydrogen powered Miatas(mx-5s)?I remember reading about then in a book some time ago,and would love to know more about them-not that i'm about to acquire a taste for hairdressing you understand, just an interest in alternative power plants!

I don't know about what happened to the mx-5's but Mazda presented a hydrogen powered rx-8 at the Tokyo motor show which they will market in 2006.

There's a short article about it here (http://www.edmunds.com/news/autoshows/articles/100643/page019.html) but if you do a Google search for "Mazda RX-8 Hydrogen RE" then that will give you plenty to read :)

wow, thanks for that!i've done lots of research into hydrogen powered REs now, seems like power is a bit of an issue at the moment, but i remember about 20 years ago Mazda were struggling to get 200hp out of a single turbo 13b,so it's nothing to worry about.it would be hilarious in my opinion if pist.ons became obsolete in time!

Ive just heard a 'rumour' from what i believe is a highly credible source that HONDA R&D currently have no less than seven hydrogen fuelled wankel engines on test!! :eek

Wow really, that I didn't know!! Was only a matter of time with these new fuels. The rotary is supposed to be far superior to these fuels than the piston.
More companies jumping on the bandwaggon can only help and improve the development of "our" engine, but you gotta feel if it does go ahead that we loose our tag.

Where do these "hairdresser" comments come from? At least its a MAZDA. Some on here also drive Bee Ems and Volvo's . I dont see any comments about them??????

i dunno martin - i've driven an MX-5 and can't rate them highly enough. They're excellent little cars - i believe people who call them hair dressers cars haven't actually driven one themselves. I'd love to have an MX-5!
