Hi all,

I would like some advice on getting an RX7.

Please could someone explain to me to difference between models made in 93 to the ones in 98 and whats with the Type R' and S's? and which is the best?

Im thinking of importing an RX7 but im not sure what i can get for under 10k. I want a 3rd Gen Red Mazda RX7 2.6 Twin Turbo with low milege thats a 95 - to present model.

Now does anyone think thats possible?

I have been looking through the forums and ive seen lots of views on what people would gets for 10k and its confused me!Ive been looking on autotrader and they very cheap Rx7s also www. bonsaicars.com price guide with package 1 on a rx7 is very cheap for a 98 RX7! (see below)

Model / Year Mazda RX7

1992¹ £4650
1993 £5495
1994 £5700
1995 £6200
1996 £6600
1997 £6995
1998 £6995
1999 £8200
2000 £10250
2001 £12100
Package 1 is included in this price

Package 1: Our simple package, is one of pure consultancy. We will advise you about availability, providing you with complete information about vehicle(s) of interest, explain and go over the auction reports and the procedures involved. We will arrange for shipping of the car to the UK and consult on its clearance on arrival. Any vehicle approval (SVA) can be carried out on your behalf and we will advise as to the best and cheapest methods for swift registration. Our fee is £500 payable pre-shipment - after which vehicle(s) will be in client's name

Now im not sure about this company or the prices! has anyone heard of them and are they realistic prices?

If so then id love a 98 model!

Ive been to the neweraimports website and the Japvillage and they seem very expensive! (1995 RX7 for 11k) I know Miguel imports for newerimports and a few other places is he really that good?

Insurance:
Im 23, my license is clean and ive been driving for 4 yrs. Ive read other peoples advice on this site and theyve quoted these companies: Adrian Flux, Direct line, Elephant and Tescos but Tescos is the only one that quotes me a figure (£1300) other dont like me!

Is that a good price?

Almost finish now!

Maintenance:How much maintenance do they need? I dont know a thing about cars! are they expensive to keep?

one more thing! are all rx7s 2+2? if so can you actually fit anyone in the back?

Can anyone help me?

Im coming to the Surrey meet on the 13th! I look forward to seeing all your cars!

Ciao for now

Kris, welcome.

Does these prices include import duty and VAT? I wouldnt think so. Plus you then have the fun of getting it through the SVA. This can be quite hard for rotories.

The later models power went up from 265-280BHP. Plus then different models have different interiors and different suspension setups.

Imports are 2+2, UK models are 2 only.

New Era are a well established company, supplying a few companies over here. You pay a little more, but he checks them out before they are shipped and has been known to resolve issues once the car has landed here.

As for the insurance quote, check under the insurnace forum, the club has a deal direct with an insurance company that looks like it could give you a very good deal.

Maintenance, keep an eye on the oil. These engines inject oil as part of the combustion cycle. There is about 5 or so specialist companies that can maintain you RX-7, closest being Rotechniks and ReWorx. They cost a little more than a normal car to run, but thats the price of only having about 5-600 on the UK roads.

Hope this helps a little.

Dan,

Thanks for the info! it was very useful! youve answered all of my questions.

I realise now that bonsai cars isnt the company to go for! Id have to sort out the SVA and VAT on the car so it would work out expensive.

Models: so which model would you recommend? Im new to all this!

Thanks once again!

Hope to see you at the Surrey Meet!!

Thats one nice bonnet. Where did you get it? Or did it come with the car?

follow the thread down, there are prices and details on there, Have had a mould made and can now supply them. Apart from looking pretty she is fantastic at letting heat out, which seems to be a major problem for the life of the fd.

Check out these people, I bought my RX7 from them.

Very good service, and a good warranty to back it up.
