Gents,
I have a small issue in that my Gen 1 wont start. Spent 3 hours last night playing around with things and it just wont go at all.
I have checked the usual:
1) It has fuel
2) Battery is charged
3) It has a spark
The only thing I can think of is theres a blockage in the carb.
Any ideas grately appreciated as I am a little lost!

Ok, try this
If you think its starved of fuel, then put the fuel in yourself!
Get an old window cleaner spray bottle.
Fill with petrol, or even petrol with a little oil mixed in.
Remove airfilter.
Hold throttle wide open.
While cranking the engine, spray some fuel in. As the fuel is sucked through, it'll kind of "find" the right mixture, and hopefully fire.
So, if it dies when you stop spraying fuel, then you know you have a fuel problem.

how long has it been stood without running ? mine was a bugger to start after this winter as it hadn't been run much, it needed a lot of cranking over with jump leads to get it to start and you have to be carefull not to wet the plugs (might be worth deflooding the car ... see the FAQ)

Its been stood for about 3 months with no starting. Have been down the jump starting route but with no avail. I'll check out the FAQ and see how I get on. Cheers Mike

I'd really like to thank whoever wrote the post on 'Starting a flooded Rotary' coz it worked. Cleaned the plugs off, got rid of the excess fuel, squirted some oil in the plug holes and bobs your uncle fannys your aunt....but by christ did it smoke :cool
