Just been on the phone to LV, they will not insure RX-7 trype R, only a handful of models are now covered, unless you have previous insurance history with them!!!!! I am finding that a considerable amounbt of companies are changing there policies NOT to consider this lovely car....Any thoughts ?????
Cheers:eek:

Just dont say Type R as not a lot of companies are going to have specific model variations on the FD.
IMHO anyway.

It seems a few insurance companies are stopping insuring under 25's on Rex's

hi i had loads of problems getting insurance with lv but i insured mine as a rx7 92 turbo coupe engine size 2.354 with them (was jubious about the engine size till i done the online quote with tesco and all the rx7 s whether type r ,rb etc were down as 2.354 )

I thought 2.4 was for the 2nd Gen and the 3rd Gen was 2.6 - the difference was due to the change in caculation rather than engine size.
You should maybe check as lots of places don't seem to know the difference.

yeah thats what i thought so i startede putting diffrent years in the online quote ie 92 95 98 etc and all came up 2.354 the way i see it is its not my fault if insurance companys dont understand the rotary engine (nudge nudge wink wink )

As long as your happy mate
I am sure in this case it wouldn't really be a problem though :)
Why not just tell them its a 2.6cc, solves the problem

If there were a loads of different engines available in rx7s you'd understand the problem.
As 92+ engines are the same you wonder how theres so much confusion...

the reason i cannot insure it as a 2.6 is they dont have any rx7 s on a 92 plate with a 2.6 engine only 2.354 the same on 93 and 94

Well I am sure its fine, perhaps for your piece of mind you should see if any other owners on here are with LV are down as a 2.6, if they are then you know you need to have yours checked out
If all of their customers are down as 2354 then looks like its fine
I am with Tesco, their online system stated UK cars as 2354 on their online quote, when I rang the imports were 2.6

My LV covernote doesn't mention CC, it just says 'Mazda RX7 (import)'

I have found loads of insurance companys listing as 23xx. Some of them insist its the car just how it is on their system.
Insuring these is a nightmare...
