View Full Version : How do mods affect premium?

I have phoned my insurer today to declare frontpipe, back box and boost controller. This is in addition to apexi pfc, defi gauges & alloy AST that were already declared but didn't attract a premium increase.

They are now asking for a 25% increase in premium - is this normal/reasonable?

Thanks

Kevin

Now received the invoice, it is just over 20% increase which is a little better than they said over the phone.

have this fantastic mod selection screen where you can arse around with the mods... There are some curious price changes:

-The insurance is £20 more if the car has been resprayed...

-Only £10 for different alloys

- nearly £300 for a rollcage...???

-only £30 for tinted windows - I thought they were meant to be really dangerous...?

-Uprated brakes is £40 MORE...??? What...?!?!!

-unlimited interior changes for only £10...

Really strange...

Yes modifications do effect the price. Even more so when you up the power, i.e. exhaust, ecu, internals (not much of that of a rotary;)).

Some cosmetic changes also change the price!

PS. Just got my renewal in and it's gone down by £220 (£520 unlimited milage) :D:D:D:D

No that is the price for the FD. ;)

I am with Axa insurance via a very good broker, who have it as my second car with the scoob being the main daily rep-mobil.

I have two years no claims discount and mods included.
