Hi all, I am looking for new tyres 2 x 225 45 17 and 2 x 235 45 17
I will probably go with the new yokohama avs+ or something like that does anyone know a good source for tyres, where they can fit & balance them and reset my camber to stock and sort my tracking if need be. Is this something that can be done in a day, I have no idea how long it takes to adjust the camber on a fd.
So if I am being unrealistic/dreamer to expect all this in a day let me know. I have heard also that tyres need bedding in sort of before you get the best performance from them is this so ??

Brian, best bet is to give Elites a call. They can do all that you request, in about half a day.
They are also about the cheapest place for tyres. :)

Cheers Dan,
I'll be taking my car down sometime next week. I have reserved the goodyear eagle f1's, two 225 45 17 & two 235 45 17
£115 & £117 respectively thats fitted and balanced, sound fair enough to me. No more making fun of me now I'll have new tyres at last :D
I really wanted some yokohama but they didn't have my size.
It was then toyo proxes ts1's or Good year. After clive raved on about them at the last pub mee, it swung my decision.
They are not sure if they can do my camber they will have to see my car first, I hope so.

Brian, would I make fun at you? Me never guv!!! :D
Are you using the correct sizes?
235/45R17's = Front
225/45R17's = Rear
Where did the 225/45R17's come from? The stock 16's use 225/50R16 (631mm), the size that you are going for 225/45R17 (638mm) is a bit of an odd size. the normal size would be 255/40R17 as fitted by Mazda on the later models.
I would have thought that this size would be hard to get hold of. But then again Elites are about the biggest tyre importer in the UK.

Hi Dan, I have the correct size 225 45 17 is for the front and 235 45 17 for the rear. This is for my new wheels which are 17 x 8 all round. I borrwed geff's wheels some months back theywere stock 16 inch rims but front was 225 50 16 and rears were 245 45 16 the car's rear was all over the place under wot, I asked geff and he said the tyre is too wide for a 8 inch width wheeland does not sit right so the tyre tends to follow the camber of the road etc etc and the back breaks lose for fun. So because these are still 8 inchers I 'm only opting for 235's at the rear.

Hi Brian,
The correct size for 17" wheels is 235/45/17 + 255/40/17 , this size rear will not alter your gearing or Speedo reading as the rolling radius remains the same as with the stock 16" fitted .
May interest you that l ran these tyre sizes for a couple of years but now run 235/40/17 on the front due to the tyres catching the inner wheel arches from time to time , this has also had the bonus of making the steering sharper as well due to less tyre deflection.
BTW, l have the new spec F1 Eagles fitted all round, as l hated the Avon ZZ1's l did have fitted ( read concrete tyres ).
Hope this helps.

Hi clive the 255 40 17 surely that's for a 8.5 inch wheel though ??
The rx7 typr rz and rs that have 17 inch wheels have 235 fronts and 255 rears but the wheel at the front is 17 x 8 and rear 17 8.5
What width wheels do you have ??

Hi Brian,
Mine are 8" Kosei's all round , when l brought them from Elite in Essex they showed me the graph they work from and my combination came out from memory either + or - 2mm overall diameter when matched across to my stock wheel tyre combination.
May be worth a mention that the wall profile is affected by the width of the tyre so your narrower ones may actually come out the same overall diameter as mine anyway.
Hope this helps.

I spoke with elite again and they advise that 225 45 17 and 235 45 17 is right for my application, they said I could have 235 45 17 255 45 17 option but the overall dimension is a litter higher than what I've gone and 255 at the rear is a little too wide for 8 inch width wheel and would not site correctly on the wheel basically the same thing what geff explained to me when I borrowed his wheels. So I've chickened out and stuck with the current order that I have 225 45 17 and 235 45 17
