Hello, just wanted to share the pics of my repainted Mariah Mode 1. Car's a 1st gen, 1982. Engine is 12A with Mikuni carb and Racing Beat street port exhaust (stock port engine, still ;) )
Car has 67.000km, engine about 12.000 from new (bought it brand new in 2000).
Apart from the Mariah widebody, mods are FD front brakes, 85 rear axle with LSD, PLS Le Mans 3 piece rims, tires 225/50/15 in front, 255/45/15 at the back.
Seats are from a 3rd gen (FD), but custom trimmed in red and black high quality artificial leather. The rest of the interior is being done at the moment (doorpanels, dash...)
Plans for the future are getting the interior sorted out, cleaning the engine bay and hopefully more hp, if I can find suitable engine. Or find the time to build one.
First pic: car in the garage, with my bikes.

next one is outside, the car's looking a bit orange because of the light, but still good enough to share, I think :)

Rotary, VERY VERY clean car. Its good to see examples of the older models looking this good.
Looking at the inside you have stripped it out a little. Do you take it on track?

The car is kept as clean as I can, but it is used ;)
The stripped interior is only because I'm slowly bringing it up to the standard of the outside. Right now the dash and doortrim are redone, in red and black to suit the seats. And then the old dash will be taken out, as well as the carpet. The "new" dash will be much cleaner, and the carpets I have gotten are 1A condition, apart from some dust. Which of course will be cleaned first :D

I'm looking forward to finally drive it again :)
Next week I'll get tires, and the inspection done. Then it's time to drive again! Dash and doortrim should be ready next week too, so I'll strip the complete interior and replace with the good parts I have. I will also take the time to clean out the mess the former owner has made of the electrics. I hope to get the car complete by the end of April...

That's a really superb paint job - it looks as if the whole car has been dipped in a bowl of some sort of luxurious red chocolate - if you see what I mean.
But I've noticed something interesting! In the first photo, tucked away in the bottom right-hand corner there seems to be a Mazda rotor-type wheel. This is the first time I've seen any apart from the five I have on my 1st gen (photo below). Will these be going on your car (if you have five) ???????

I doubt they'd go over the third gen front brakes ;) or fill that widebody

Hi Frank, just had a look at your website (very nice)
your car has the 6PI 12a engine in it !

when was it imported from Japan ? Thats one VERY rare 1st gen you've got there

Hello Mike,
OK about the wheels - I know someone at Dallas/FW RX club who is thirsting after some 'rotor-type' wheels. Was just wondering!
Glad you like the site - it's not finished yet but most of the encoding is done, it's just a case of getting some more images together. I enjoy that sort of work and it makes up (a bit) for my being a duffer at car mechanics.
Yep - I'm certainly pleased with the car and I gather it's rare. In fact I've looked on sites world wide and not found anyone else with one yet. I don't even know what 6-ports are (blush) but I gather it's a step up from some other number of ports. It was imported from Japan in 1982.
This is not 'mutual back-scratching' but I must add that your own car is looking really good also. I know you're off to Brooklands and only wish I was going so I could take a peep. For me it's about 80:20 against going down there at present, much wailing and gnashing of teeth !!!

Hi Frank,
you'll probably find that not many other people will have a car like yours in the UK as it was only sold in Japan, and it was the top of the range model for the MK2 series (top of the rang 84/85 was the 12a turbo) so I would guess its pretty rare in japan too !
I'm hopefully going to Brooklands (still got some work to do on the car  ) hopefully the weather will be good as Its strictly a fine weather car now all the rusty bits have gone :)
Even If I'm not in the RX I'm definetly still going (if I'm allowed in the boinger 323 :p ) though as I want to have a look round the circuit and the museum is meant to be worth looking at too

As for rotor wheels: the one in the garage was meant to become eyecatcher/sparewheel. However, that'd be very useless, as those wheels won't fit my car. At the rear it'd work (as a spare that is, far to narrow for the body) but in front it doesn't clear the calipers (FD!). So I must find a 15" wheel soon, as otherway I do not have a spare tire with me!
Rotor wheels are not that rare overhere, but most are not the best condition. They tend to dislike salt a lot
So do PLS alu's by the way...

OK about the wheels, Bart, I understand now. You're right about them deteriorating. I have had mine 'done up' and they look smart again, but for how long is another matter unless I avoid puddles.
Mike. yes, it sounds like an interesting venue. I hope you enjoy the trip. I'm in the same position regarding wet weather. Mine hasn't even seen a raindrop for about six years - it's been in storage and just run round a few miles every few months. I was amazed to find that it had been undersealed, presumably from shortly after new.

I made some extra pics, now the interior is ready.
Here they are:
BTW, there is still a switch missing (rear wiper), need to get that one soon. And the weird line in the seat is something from the light, not a tear or stitching.

Looking nice (very red ! ... need some :cool to drive it)
Those mats look nice are they specifically made for the 1st gen ?
The ones I had in mine were downright dangerous as they fouled the pedals !!

The mats are custom made for Euro-rotor, and two versions are available: SA/FB/FC and FD. The SA/FB and FC will fit all three cars (so both 1st gen and 2nd gen) perfectly, so I suppose the FD ones will fit perfectly in the 3rd gen aswell.
They are really well shaped, and follow the cars countours very well.
