Hi everyone, I have just got back from Martins (Speedline Imports) to collect my cage, we both tried to fit it into the car (well the main hoop and the rear stays) to get it home but we couldn't get the rear hoop seated upright.

Does anyone know how to get these fitted? its a 6 point bolt in, do I need to bring it in from 1 of the doors or though the back?

I think you'd be best taking the seats out. But thats only a guess really.

Im thinking possibly

LOL :) me and martin almost got it in by taking out the mirror, it just wouldn't go upright

are jap spec cars and UK cars the same shell? I have had issues with my exhaust being fitted to a jap spec car, but it didn't fit mine lol

same shell pretty certain of it from the mix I have had. Definately take the seats out and then you will not damage anything. It came out of one so should go in.

Just read on a cusco site that there are obviously sunroof and non sunroof cars, the jap spec car didn't have a sunroof, so there is the sunroof module that I guess fits in with all the motors, meaning that the roof is slightly lower than one with no sunroof, apparently it says that I have to take some of the roll cage off the bottom of each leg :(

L18M, do you still want the roll cage? it will fit in yours

surerly taken some metal off is worth it, it cant be that much to take off?
Never thought about the sunroof bit, I womder if it will fit in if you temp removed the sunroof trim from inside and then tried a fit.

Im not sure how far the mechanism goes, Martin and I tried to fit it in, we got it into the car and diagonal, but couldn't get it upright

Can anyone make any measurements from a jap FC to find the difference?

I might take it to a specialist and get them to remove the legs and get the main hoop welded in and maybe the fronts as well, then just get the back stays bolted in as per usual

Would that offer enough strenght?

Also where can I attach the harnesses? would the rear strutbrace be ok?

i got the 1/2 cage from pete already :)
think that originally was from a jdm fc??

harness, can either get a horizontal bar put in n attach to that else theres some bolts on the floor of the car that the harness can attach onto.

what about removing the roof lining then can cut a bit into it so the cage fits?
or remove teh sunroof motors n fit jdm roof lining :Giggle

Just get the legs shortened - if you remove the plate from the bottom, cut the down pipes and then reweld the plates on. That way it will remain strong rather than cutting it along the length.

I'm sure James can fab that in no time. :Thumbs-up

Yeah I think I will ask him if he can do that, makes sense to get it welded in a bit at least :) just on another forum regarding harnesses etc and the angles needed

i have a plan.
how about u put the hoop in upside down. then slide the hoops backwards (so the top of the hoop is in boot and base legs are nr the windows.
then drop the legs and voila!

but thats just based on the angle of the legs not being perpendicular to the hoop as on mine. :)
