Hi All, Excellent NEWS.

Official press release from the Mazda U/K monthly round-up/ update via your club today,

28th February saw the Mazda RX-8 advance order web site , www.mazdaRX8.co.uk
go live , where customers who want to be the first in the queue for the unique rotary sports car
can pay a deposit of £1000.
ln the first WEEK the site saw 360 customers place a deposit , there will be ONLY 3,500 RX-8 vehicles available to U/K customers during 2003

To put this in prospective there are only around 500 Gen 3 RX-7s on the road in the U/K .

Brace yourselves chaps, a new Rotary era is Dawning.

Hi Clive,
Looks like there are going to be some exciting times ahead us rotary enthusiasts. I suspect that it won't be too long before all 3,500 are already reserved. If I had the money I would too.
I just hope no other car company try's building a rotary engine car and take away the exclusivity of it all.

Bourne rd told my brother that 1700 where ordered on first day.

Has anyone seen the cd on the rx8, brother got one through post today will see if I can get it to one of you guys.

BNA, Mazda own all the copyright laws for the rotary, which means that there the only ones who can produce it:bandit

I think it is possible for another company to make a rotary (and many companies have done in the past ,Citroen , Mercedes , Norton and of course NSU etc. etc.)

what would be difficult is they would have to catch up with the years of research that Mazda have and I should imagine Mazda do have the rights to many of the quirks that make a rotary engine work in the real world
