im sure this will have been asked several times but the search brough up nothing obvious and I havent got time to deep hunt here at work.

im after a relatively quick answer...

can you fit and FD gearbox to an FC?

if so how much hassle is there involve with the conversion?? are their gains in anyway??

reason for asking is i assume they will be in more abundance and I have plans which involve a sequential shifter. :)

cheers guys

It can be done. I don't know all the ins and outs of it but I seem to remember that the shifter ends up further forward towards the ashtray.

The FC box is pretty strong by all accounts - are you sure its worth the hassel?

FC box is stronger than FD from what i have heard and my own personal experience. The RX8 is the one that puts the shifter further forward.

You would either need to retain the FC belhousing, then you would need to make new mountings as the FD box doesnt mount to the chassis like the FC, it uses the power plant frame.

If you tried to keep the FD bell, you would need an fd clutch, slave cylinder etc.

Not worth the grief in my opinion, especially as FC boxes can be picked up a lot cheaper than FD boxes which are sort after cos they keep breaking!

nope... its official.. after my drift licecnet ing on friday.. the FC box is shagged..

on the way home it now wont go into third properly say 7/10 shifts.. and ll 7 of the dodgy shifts grind BAD.. (very simular/same nooise you get when hitting reverse by accident or cruch by lifting clutchetc)..

so i will either be looking to do the conversion asap, or buy and FC box before next round.

find another fc one or go with the conversion kit from supernow:

thread revival!!!
once i have this kit and an fd box.. would i then need an fd clutch???

Im assuming i dont.. as it would mate up with the conv kit.. but the mind does boggle trying to work it out at this hour.

I think you can get away with just putting the FC bellhousing on the FD box, then finding a way of mounting it to the car..

you going to be using an IKEYA shifter then? :D
