is this normal, as you can see in the pic the oil in the OMP lines seems to be air locked or somthing http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd257/fc3s/P1010475.jpg

The FB (1st Generation) does something very similar - has done from new.
The only true test would be to discharge some oil into a measure over a short period of time. That's the workshop manual test for the FB anyway.
Sorry - don't know anything about FC or FD models.

Welcome mate, yeh the FB oil delivery is a series of what seems to be oil pulses - they make like a dot, dot, dash, dash effect in the pipes.

must be the same on the fc so, sometimes the peeds of oil go back and foward, very strange

I get this when I've drained the OMP to clean it, but once the oil is metering ok, there shouldn't be air gaps - the odd gap is ok (and can be used as a test to make sure the metering is working), but I suspect if you've that many and constantly getting them then the system is under oiling. You may have a blockage in the front housing or the OMP - it can get very gunked up in there.

Is that something you should do fairly regularly then Dave? Just I haven't ever drained and cleaned mine so now im all paranoid!

Depends a lot on your oil changes - how often and so on. The feed for the OMP comes from the engine oil, so if that gets a bit black and heavy - that's what's going into your oil injectors.
When I took mine off the old engine, there were some bits and sludge in the mouth of the OMP - but that had been on the engine for 15000 miles and at least 5 oil changes. Now I'm running 2 stroke from a seperate tank into the OMP it was spotless when I did my front cover gasket last weekend - that's since last August.
I think one of the reasons that OMP's fail is that the oil can get thick and labour the stepper motor, either blowing windings or the transistors in the ECU that drive the OMP stepper.

Prof is 'da man' so I've been in the garage with my torch..... hmm.... I get more like longer dashes of oil than you 'flatout', then a quick dot of air then a long dash again.
So back to basics methinks and the best advice would be to either do a discharge test into a beaker (see the FC manual) or supplement with premix straight into the fuel. The last way will help protect you against a failed or blocked OMP. Search under premix to find the stuff that people use (Millers KB 2T for example) and the ratio at which they add it to the tank.

Last post crossed with Prof. I'll drop out of this post, as said first off, FC's not my area of expertise.
