Hi
New on here so don't flame me. Sold my s14a today due to poverty credit crunch no job blah blah, needless to say my drifting allowance has been cut significantly. I've seen a fc turbo 2 widebody for sale locally for good money, its been sitting for a year needs work on the brakes, its got a rusty sill and faded paint but other than that its in tip top standard unmodified condition. Wasn't going to buy another car yet but just seen this and wondered if a widebody turbo 2 was a rare enough find to justify re-skinting myself.
Thanks
Greg

Its a red fc turbo 2 widebody 100k with the original diamond cut bbs wheels, 4 good pirelli's only got one pic which i'll post abit later can't see the reg was trying to search it on here but the guy is on driftworks with a substantial post count so i believe he's genuine.

Is it actually wide bodied? or does it just have over fenders?
a Genuine wide body would be pretty darn rare.
Also you say your budget is cut. An engine with 100k and no rebuild probably wont last too long as a drifter.
anyway, pics :D
and welcome

owner says its a genuine widebody i wouldn't know. Out of interest how much does a decent condition 13b turbo engine go for?

Thats not a wide body mate. Its stock. Looks clean enough though. If you do buy it I'd be interested in a few parts like spoilers if you were gonna replace them with aftermarket ones.

Ok i didn't know if it was widebodied or not to be honest i don't know much about rx-7's in general but i really like the look and sound of them and i've been told they are good fun cars. The car in question is £650 100k on the clock and i'm not sure if the motor has been rebuilt. Do you think its worth a look? If the engine was to go how much is a standard rebuilt or a reconned engine?
Thanks
Greg

Well a running motor ranges from £400-£1000 depending on milage I would say, and a rebuild varies depending on how much of it you want to do or if you want to get a pro to do it. It is however considerabley more.
Oh and they are fun cars, very fun cars!!!!!!!!!

get it bought and worry late - at that price - as long as its a runner with some MOT your laughing ;)

Just talked to the seller he says its a good runner no MOT and hasn't been rebuilt but he does say its one of the better rotaries he's owned and with it been boggo standard i'm guessing its not had too hard a life. I'm going to see it monday maybe i'll have a new car to bring home?

get him to mot it !!!!!!!
its even worth £40 to pay for the MOT and then make a choice

I think the guy was getting mixed up with the fairly similar age/looks widebody and narrowbody Starions.
All stock FCs have the same basic body, though I guess you know this just by reading the replies, lol.

I'm learning albeit slowly, i'll see if he'll MOT it if not i'll think i may leave it, the potential for this to be a bit of a dog is far too much for me to risk at the current time. I'll have a quick looky monday and weigh it up is there a cars forsale thread on here if there is i haven't found it, seems most strange.

yeah yeah yeah - i know about the spending money comment
but is it worth £40 in real terms - either the car comes with a 12 month MOT and its a steal - or you find its a failure - you save yourself £610 ( 650-40 )
its sometimes worth spending the cash
i did the same with the BMW - couldnt decide so got it MOT'd before i bought it - it passed - hence i bought it :D :D

I'm pretty sure it will fail its been sitting a year the are brakes are sticky and the sill has been eaten away, it wouldn't be too much to weld a new sill in. I'm quite a hands on guy. Its just the engine i'm most wary off knowing very little about them. I'm going to give hayward rotary a pm and see how much i'll be looking at for a rebuilt both standard and street ported that way i can prepare for the worst case and weigh it all up. I realise i won't get mint a turbo 2 for much less than 2k and i'm onlt looking to spend 1k tops! Building the car is half the fun seeing it progress over the weeks and months looking back and thinking i did that! Problem is i can afford to much building atm!!! Also seen a few clean egi's i like also don't know if i can live without turbo powerzz though!!

DtheB on here owns it.. quite nice n for the price is good
its in the for sale threads also
think rebuilds u ooking at about 2.5k plus if u need new housing then thats 900 alone.
porting is about 300-500 extra ontop of rebuild
thats jus to giv u a rough idea :)

Yeah seen that its a really tidy car i would ideally like a turbo II though even though i'm not supposed to be looking at all!

nice one liam.
Though i don't want to put you off my car. If you want a TII get a TII, they are completely different machines in my opinion. Though you could buy mine and drop a TII engine in it :D

Right i've seen the car the engine is actually on 82k not 100k its not a bad car its a bit scabby but quite sound the engine and gearbox are tight its just the drivers side sill is completley gone and the rust is making its way onto the chassis leg. I've got a quote for the labour but where and how much am i looking at for a sill plate repair panel? I've got some pics which i'll throw up later. I'm probably being abit of a girl about all this but i can't weld and have never owned a rusty car! lol!

The important bit is the running gear, make sure its really good mechanically. The body can always be fixed cheaply, the engine not so.

mechanically its great. I was just abit daunted by the extent of rust on that 1 sill.

have a look at my website ( in sig ) and look at the rusty rex section .. that will give you an idea of how bad they can get ;)

Right i've had to pull out of the sale as although its a great great car at a good price i neither have the time, money, and skill to complete it. For someone mechanically minded and able to weld you could be able to get this on the road and in fine fettle for little over a grand. Its got a rusty sill, cracked windscreen, and a blowing downpipe, a few scabs on the arches the paint has faded in places but will polish up all small niggles.
The gearbox and engine are tighter than a ducks behind the suspension is good the interior looks like its never been sat in bar the drivers seat with minimal wear. All the electrics works. Overall its a really nice project for someone. The pics are in this thread. I have agreed to help the seller sell the car by putting it on here as he wants it to go to a good home. The price is £650 NO LESS! You need to call Damien on 0797122225 car is located in suffolk.
