Hey guys,

How is everyone.. Right, for the past 6 months i have believed that my alternator has been rooked.. Well, tonight it seems it might not have been this afterall.. The other night i went to start the car and it started fine but then just died a death.. the whole electrics went. Pushed it out tonight to charge the battery and pushed the battery connectors in and all the power came back on..

I noticed ages ago that one connection was cracked but thought it should be ok.. I'm now convinced that it is this that is making it look like my battery keeps dying.

Has anyone ever had to change the connectors before and can anyone tell me how to do it and where to get them.. I've seen them on eBay for very cheap but wasn't sure if they were car specific.

If anyone can help me out that would be appreciated! :)

the connectors that connect to the battery terminals right? I have 2 new spare ones you can have if you want. They re simple to change, you'll need some sort or wire strippers though.

Hello Jemes!

It's pretty much these things i need.. (but not these ones)

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Car-van-HGV-battery-terminal-kit-1-pos-1-neg-connector_W0QQitemZ320366203747QQcmdZViewItemQQptZ UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item4a97505 363&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12|66%3A2|39%3A1|72%3A1683|240%3A13 18|301%3A0|293%3A1|294%3A50

The thing is, the wire going to the battery points aren't very long and i don't know if i will be able to cut any wire away.. I will take them anyways dude as i'm sure i can sort something.

yea they're new ones the aa man gave me. you should try and use a bit of newly stripped wire, and remember to use copper grease on the terminals

I changed mine for some Halfords ones, as mine had also split. If they are the original connectors, then they are made of lead and will melt right off the end of the wire - but be careful not to set fire to the insulation.

I'd also advise pulling the battery and sticking an old metal container in there so that the molten lead has somewhere safe to drip. :)
