so far the car has a full 3 inch exhaust a filter and street ported lump uprated fuel pump but is on standard management
whats the next steps to getting some more grunt? i was going to change the intercooler if you can even call it that lol but what are other folks using some pics might help if its been a diy fit as i can see what im up against

You would need to go for some 'safety mods' first
Change the radiator for a much thicker core that doesn't have plastic ends
Buy a boost gauge so you can accuratly read boost
Ensure you have a good boost controller
Run a better intercooler so you don't get detonation on higher boost
Change the HT leads if they aren't done already
Chip the ECU or get a standalone
Change the fuel injectors to either 800s or 1000s in the secondaries
Uprate the clutch if you are going past stock boost
Port the wastegate of the turbo
Fit an wideband air/fuel gauge in to check its not going lean

what intercooler is that?? looks like the kind i was after? im almost thinking of going down the home made route :)

That's a copy of an ARC intercooler - I got one made up when I had my intercooler re cored. It's good for more boost and generally in the same conditions seems to drop the temps between 5-15 degress more than the stock one. It's got nearly double the area of the stock intercooler and is 60mm deep. The advantage of staying top mount is the greatly reduced air path - so less laggy, whereas the front mount kits have about 2-3 meters of piping.
As M1tch said, there are a few good safety mods you can do - rewire fuel pump - I see you've upgraded it - good start.
Stock HT leads will be quite poor condition by now - so they are worth changing. A bigger rad will help.
The stock turbo gets inefficient after 12 psi, so if you want to run more boost you need to think about a hybrid or bigger turbo - but the above mods should definitely be done first.
The biggest problem you will have is the fuel cut to the rear rotor when you hit 8+ psi boost - to get rid of that you need a chipped ECU or standalone - an FCD will let you run higher boost without fuel cut, but it does it by fooling the stock ECU about real boost level, so the ECU will not be fuelling adequately. With a chipped unit you can expect to get to around 300 BHP at the flywheel on the stock turbo and injectors, but they are maxed out at this point and you'll need to think about bigger after that.

IIRC they were about £280 ish when we all spoke to the company about it

Not sure if they could make them without having an intercooler there - as that's how they made this copy, but they may have taken measurements and have a blue print to work from now.

They would have been about this much for 5-10 quantities, but for a single one youre looking at £350+ and then postage. Having said that, when Brett was looking for an original ARC unit, they were over £600 or something stupid - so these aren't cheap.
