Phil,
That is one very nice RX-7!!
I have always been a big fan of the C-West kit and when combined with a black car, it just looks evil!!
Also, the addition of what looks to be a Mazdaspeed bonnet is great.
The engine bay has come up nice too, I take it from the blue piping it has an Apexi cooler? and also I love the cage, just makes the car look very serious.
Shaun.

G'Day Shaun,
Phil has just had a nice rebuilt engine, turbo, and MoTeC set-up.
He is now running a mild port, T51R KAI turbo, and M800 ECU. It is being run-in as we speak. Can't wait to see/hear it.

Awesome,
Thanks for the update Glen.
I love the HKS T51R, it is just such a well developed and built turbo. Combined with the Motec and engine rebuild, this car is going to be a serious animal!!
Do you know if Phil managed to source the limited production Ball Bearing version of the T51R?? They produced a limited number in both the KAI and SPL versions.
Thanks,
Shaun.

I think Phil's in the Journal Bearing type, didn't know they did a BB type - that would be lovely.
Phil has said that it boosts up very nicely as it is, be very interested to see the power figures also.
Should be the most powerful FD here in the UK I think.

I'll get Phil to add to the thread, but this is from an FDUK posting...
Had a the tuning session finally, at Abbey Motorsport home of many GTRs. Not enough sleep & up far too early (Sorry to Geff/Chris) the RX was hooked up to a Dynopak and Geff from Reworx got to work. Much tuning, coffee, ciggies, deaf ears later & the shivers (t'was like tuning in an fridge) and the results started coming. As that RPM increased, so did those magic numbers resulting in a smooth power output from 3000 steepening at 4.6K to 8K.
The www.reworx.co.uk tuner wasn't messing, was his usual diligent self and impressed the hell out of me, def. worth the wait. Abbey Motorsports-friendly, flexible, knowledgable & would go back again.
So what did I get, beside a very drivable, powerful car, with further power on tap?
Boost 17.6PSI - 491bhp @ Fly / 408bhp @ Hubs
Torque was a healthy 331ft/lb @ 5.8K
More to come soon, will be interesting if we dial in some more
boost/fuel.
Now shall I cook dinner or tweak the Traction and Launch Control and get a rush of this boost again, hmm that easy:
.. where's me keys

Phil, good figures, and I take it that with it only reading at 1.2BAR of bbost you still have some to go?
Also looking at the bottom of the maps, you went to Abbey Motorsport what did you think of them?

Hi Phil!
Thanks very much for posting up the pics. some very nice figures there!
Do you know what the "Torque" graph is all about? it is saying 1300ft lb - but that can't be. There is also a "Flywheel Torque" graph which makes more sense.
I'd be interested to know what the "Torque" graph is all about.

Torq to 1300? - need to ask Abbey what that is all about...
imo - Abbey were good, the guy worked with Geff reasonably well. The Dynapack system is a direct hub system takes about 3/4 hour to setup & away you go. The twin fans in the enclosed room kept temps real low, fridge like.
I found you realistically need 1 day to get a map going from scratch. A good break to sit down, collate all the data, ensure you are still on track and check street running. Then another full day for completing to WOT and get the IGN adjustments.
We'll be going back soon, but we need to get the Water Injection sorted, an Electric Water Pump installed, remove the AC and possibly sort the OMP properly..

Forgot to mention, I am now being sponsored by RE:Worx in Portsmouth, UK. I am very glad they are sole tuners of my car, since I have met them they have consistently done the business, worked beyond the call of duty and have not charged me an arm & a leg - just the odd finger ;)
Soon as possible, we'll get to Santa Pod - I'm looking forward to ripping some tarmac & seeing what she can do 1/4 wise..

Thanks Phil, no problems - whenever you get a chance. Thanks for the Dyno information also, much appreciated.
Great stuff with the sponsorship - that should work nicely for yourself and Geff.

Hi all,
I have been using the Quarter Jr program and have calculated some ET's and MPH. See here:

Glen, good program - would be chuffed to bits posting 11.07s, Want to do a run @ Pod at end of June or mid July latest (if car ok).
Think it'll be kind of a roller coaster ride keeping 500+HP ultra reliable - RE:Worx working very hard on that though, some trick stuff going on. Building 2nd race engine for quick swap if power ever gets weak - allows Geff to investigate what is going a wry before say, an Apex seal explodes and takes all the evidence with it. Smart thinking that, so yes will help us both well, and thus will benefit our rotary community in the UK!
Cheers

Dan
Abbey charged me £80p/hour (usually £100ph) - ended up approx. £550+vat for the day. Not cheap but tuning really was from ground up so I think it was reasonable under those circumstances.
Cheers

Lovely car mate, and big respect for running that kind of power with a rotary, I wouldnt have the stomach (or the wallet) to risk it so good on you. Are you taking it to TOTB2 by any chance?

Thanks Anthony - I'll be at ToTBII, all being well it should be running very sweet by then.
