hello, was driving along as normal wasnt booting it, everything was being normal then the orange/yellow light came on in the bottom left of the dash, its got a car skidding symbol on it with the letters 4WD/ASC, i think there the letters on it but i cant think why it would come on, i havnt got abs or traction controll so why would it come on? oh yeah its a 94 gen 3 fd3s, i checked the fluid levels and they all seemed fine, i cant find a reason why it would of come on, once i started the car up to come back home it never came up again :xconfused
any help guys, cheers andy

ABS warning light is missing off that list. This is what kicked in

Yep it's the ABS warning.
Below 6 degrees C I get this all the time in my RX-8 before the tyres have warmed up. I only have to dab the throttle or take a corner at normal speed.
So I'm not surprised you're getting in in an RX-7 as you guys have loads more power. Shows you're driving it properly! :Giggle

I *think* the 8 has traction control though, the 7 does not. The yellow ABS light on a 7 should only light up if it's faulty. I dont think it even lights up when it's kicking in. Mine lights up now and then. I think there is an intermittent fault with the solenoids.

So your ABS has been removed? They all came with it as standard.

It would be a bit strange to have a warning light for something that's not fitted to the car - unless as Robbie says it's been removed?

If the abs had been removed wouldn't the light be on all the time? or off all the time because you'd normaly remove the bulb.
It's something abs related anyway.

mine is on all the time and now
abs wont work. i think/hope its because a fuse has gone. this has happened before

Doesn't the power FC use the ABS light as a warning indicator sometimes??
I'm sure if that light flashes, the PFC is warning over knock levels for example.

I thought it was only the HEAT light that the PFC uses??

Yup, Power FC uses the HEAT light for all warnings. It's the frequency of the flashes, etc as to what the problem is. Most people end up seeing quick flashes though, which means knock.

Ok cool..
I just remember one light flashed - but haven't seen it since the car was setup and mapped properly so forgot which light!!! :)

sorry guys my mistake i do have abs just went and double checked lol :o:o:o ive checked the fluid levels and everything looks ok, nothing came up on the apexi controler when the light came on, the knock was fine didnt even go above 24 the whole journey and the temperature didnt go above 82 on any of the guages? could possibly be a sensor on the brake pads saying there low?

Correct matey!!
Well sort of! Its not a pad sensor but an abs sensor, All 4 wheels have one
The abs lamp will light when you have a fault with your abs system, It will very likely be a wheel sensor as they are a commen failure in weather like we are having.
Get it looked at mate as if you just leave it before long the abs will start activating all the time and the pump will eventually bun itself out.
Beside abs is a lifesaver in these icy conditions, Im sold with it ever since i managed to steer around a tractor stuck in the road last year when without abs i would have hanging out its rear end for sure.

Not exactly critical info, but I'm pretty sure that the ABS light flashes when ABS is active. If it is on and not flashing there is a fault.

The main issue with ABS sensors is that its a magnetic hall probe at the back of the wheel, brake dust can sometimes mess with this sensor, so it might be an idea just to blow some compressed air around the sensor to clean it, I had this issue in my FC, but being a Mazda, its fixed itself :D

mines been on since i bought the car, the red hazard light was on too and the previous owner said they were both on because of low fluid levels. when i changed the brake pads and topped the fluid up the hazard light went off but the skiddy symbol has remained on till this day??

sounds like there maybe a fault with your abs computer.
