Someone please help cos these insurance companies are giving me a huuuge headache.
I have a decent quote for my car as it is, but I have a few more modifications planned in near future (some are currently en route!) and the place i've got the quote from wont accept any more modifications.
Can someone recommend someone who is mod friendly, ive already tried these:
Elephant (no comment)
Admiral (who current quote is with)
Norwich Union (only 3 mods allowed)
Adrian Flux (no under 25's)
Budget (no imports)
Cheers

There are lots of threads like this, your best bet is to use the search function and go through them
Adrian Flus gave me a quote a while ago and I was 23
Tesco is probably your best bet

Cheers for that, i'll give them a try.
Wish the company's would have some consistency, thats why I made a new thread as they seem to change there policies every day :(
what a nightmare, i hate this time of year....:(

After a fruitless search I have had to go with Admiral, no more mods we have been told.:(
Oh well, bonnet and suspension will have to go in the loft for a year. I imagine quite a few other bits will end up there too in preperation for a more mod friendly insurer, or 25th birthday but hopefully wont be that long :D
On the plus side a year will give me time to save for a nice shiny re-spray for when the bonnet goes on :) (prob spoiler aswell by then)

i'm with adrian flux on my current car and they quoted me for an rx and i'm 23, but my current underwriter with them won't insure me as i'm fully comp with protected ncd. still a bit pricey though, will phone around next month as my insurance will be close to renewal. this could be a fun month or 2

Try Admiral. Best I've had so far.
I called Tesco who told me within the last month they have stopped doing under 25's.
I HATE TRYING TO GET INSURANCE EACH YEAR!!!!!!

Yeah i've just gone with Admiral, £1338 fully comp with 3rd party any car, £50 window replacement and all the extras. I'm 24 with 2 years no claims, the car is an M reg type-R2 and is garaged with cat 1 alarm. I ddin't want to pay that much, but you have a very limited choice when you're under 25 :(

Am just updating this:mad: Got my docs through checked them over and low and behold it said I was born in 1970, I'm 24:eek: rang them up to correct it and they wanted another £800:reallymad so have had to cancel it :( At least i've now managed to register my car, have done 460miles and I will be getting all my money back ;)
But now I obviously need to find a company who will insure me on an import:rolleyes: I'm 24 with 2 years ncb the car is garaged with a cat 1. Anyone any ideas???????????? Got an on-line quote for £960 fully comp with elephant for a uk car, but dare not ring them to quote me for an import as i think they are my only real choice.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Paul:)

I did get a quote from Tesco online a while back for an import and it was still quite alot of $$$. Tried to do an on-line quote this morning and it will no longer let me:( someone mentioned that they no longer insure under 25's on these cars  Will give them a call to check.
Cheers, Paul:)

hmm don't know then, Tesco seems to provide cover to a lot of people, supposed to be good with performance and younger drivers. , dunno what Nottinghams like but I'd expect to pay about £1700 without taking into account location

Well they no longer do under 25's on import rx-7's and she says they have recently changed this policy. Out of 99, 99 being the highest rating car to insure and 1 being the cheapest, the type-r is 91:eek: and even if i was over 25 it would require a tracking device:rolleyes:
So nope tescos is a big NO NO:(
Paul (going off to cry in a corner) :reallymad

Hi mate
I was insured less than 2 months ago on a import RX-7 with no problems at all with Tesco
So they must have changed it VERY recently, which is a shame
Unlucky, you'll have to keep ringing round :(

Elephant might be worth ringing, I was with them for a year for a good price on an import, it was just the renewal that sent me packing (almost double), but as you'll be 25 by next renewal your worries should be behind you!
I dont *think* they load the policy to a huge amount for imports like some insurers, prob expect 20-30% ish (rather than double like some places).

What we need is a sticky table like the 1/4 mile but with insurance that each person has.
Tesco quoted me £5k+, Elephant assured me that they don't insure RX-7's .
I'm with Crossgate Insurance, am 25, 5 yrs no claims and I declare everything (Thousands of £'s worth of stuff) down to carbon door handles and extra guages. Am just about to add a vented bonnet and 3 more guages which did not effect my insurance as they don't add performance :). It's also garaged with Cat1 and tracker.
I am on a <6000miles per year policy and am paying £1200.
Try them on 01582 738233.

I've just taken out my new insurance with Elephant (who I was currently insured with) Im 24, no mods to my 1994 Type R2 import. dent to my pocket: £940 inc. recovery which was £70. A very good price I think.

I'm 21 with 3 yrs no claims, i got a quote from elephant.co.uk for a 93 twin turbo import RX7 with no mods, they quoted me £1200 fully comp with my wife as a named driver (which seemed to of brought the premium down). this quote included protection and roadside recovery, etc.
i just don't know what they would be like with mods!!!

they will tolerate a few, but get strict quite quick, when i was with them i had ecu, exhaust, bodykit and wheels, they came up with some faff about not insuring induction kits but that got sorted in the end, but worth bearing in mind. Prob wouldn't be allowed much more than that, maybe suspension, if you started thinking single turbo conversions, etc no chance :)

Elephant def seem to be decent enough -
23 with 1 yrs no claims, 3 accidents in the last 2 years ( only 1 was my fault ) and an sp30 and the quote I got for an 1992 RX7 was only around 1500! still looking to find it cheaper tho!

You gotta remember tho you are insuring a grp 20 out of 20 car. You can't get a higher risk type of car! :D
£1500 IMO is a great price for 1 years NCB. Being 24, with my 5 years, Admiral did fully comp for £663 if paid at once or £751 if paid in installments (I did the latter because I couldn't afford it all at once :(). You can do mods, but they prefer minor ones ie bodykit or alloys rather than single turbo mods etc
