Hi everyone <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
I have a 92 <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">UK</st1:place></st1:country-region> spec FD and I’m having a bit of a problem with the 1st turbo.
<o:p></o:p>
The turbo seems to drop off the more aggressive you get with the throttle. Also when the engine gets hot the power just seems to go completely.
<o:p></o:p>
I have a feeling this is primary turbo inlet (I think that’s what it is called) and it’s collapsing under the pressure. Am I right in thinking this?
<o:p></o:p>
Dose anyone know what size or any where good I can get a replacement?<o:p></o:p>
Thanks<o:p></o:p>

I doubt its the inlet collapsing, probably a boost leak , do you have a boost gauge?

yeah I do.
when the boost dose start to drop off the boost gauge drops as well.

the rubber inlet pipes are prone to collapsing when their heated up, might be worth replacing it with a silicone elbow just for peace of mind if nothing else

thanks

Well I have sorted out the problem.
It was the air intake going to the turbos<O:p</O:p
They were so weak they just kept collapsing, that or the clips holding it on were rubbish. That and I found a tree in the air box, so that probably didn't help. lol<O:p</O:p
<O:p
Thanks everyone <O:p

haha a tree :D
glad you got it sorted mate good stuff :) other things to check are the cross over pipe and check and double check all the clips holding the boost pipes together as the standard clips are about as usefull as a chocolate iron!!!

mmmmm chocolate iron.
I replaced all those standars clips as well. They were rubbish.
Thanks :D

That seems to have fixed it. I cant remember the size though. ill have a look though.
I also replaced all the clips as well.

Got any pics with them fitted mate. Did you have standard induction pipes before you fitted them

Gavin, I wouldn't laugh at you, mate. I've had those same pipes on mine for a couple of years and they've been fine. Even the cheapy silicone couplers haven't degraded at all, which I was slightly worried about at first. Ben, here's a photo of mine in place, looks ok to me. Sometimes eBay tat isn't necessarily, well, tat! Only slight problem was the bottom, front turbo pipe didn't fit well when I had an ARC induction box because the curve wasn't acute enough in it. Dunno whether it'd fit the standard airbox too well. Fits fine with separate filters, though, cos there's a bit more adjustability in mounting them. HTH

they were next on my list too! and i agree with the above, not ALL ebay specials are all that bad! 99% of them yes, but stuff like these induction pipes, you cant really pick fault with! plus they do look rather damn sexy mr greek i must admit!

Yeah, we like shiny things, especially when they're cheap! All I need to do is replace the silicone with red stuff (apparently!). The eBay debate rages on, but I don't see why I should, for example, pay £100 for Tein bonnet lifters when I can get eBay ones from Taiwan for a third the price that do exactly the same job exactly as well. And they're not that nasty green colour. Winner! Sometimes I guess we're all guilty of being label junkies, but just cos somethings' got a brand name cachet doesn't always mean its better!

hmmm it may be abit of a hassle with the RE kit as with seperate filters you can just move each one about to suite the pipe work...

I hate the re lit that i have think its S:flamedit in everyway.
There is a guy on ebay selling Apexi twin fiters for £150 so maybee i should get them

Apexis FTW! I agree that the mounts on the Re Amemiya one may not be too easy to line up the pipes with, they're close together like the stock airbox IIRC

That's good, don't feel like a e-bay racer now. lol
wow, they are nice.
I was a bit worried about fitting them those because of the silly amount of heat coming off the turbos. Thought it would mess up the performance, with all that hot air being sucked in.
dose anyone fide that a problem at all??

In a word, "no"! :D
Spent ages a few months back making a heat shield for my filters and all that. Made exactly no difference whatsoever to intake temps! Looks nice, though! :Thumbs-up I think heat soak is the enemy, which isn't really ever going to be cured anywhere as hot and crowded as an FD engine bay. Dei and the like heatshield products may help a bit, but once you're at a standstill for more than a minute or so once the engines warmed up, the dread heatsoaks gonna start making its way through anyway

cool in that case then better get on and order the Apexi that fil_auto posted.
thanks for that :chat

just make sure u get LOADS of ducting to them mate, theres one or two little nooks and crannys you can get some ducting pipe through, theres a hole in the undertray which ive directed some ducting through to feed my filters, ive also got about 3 other ducts running from the front bumper! but as mr greek said, heat soak is a swine to get under control and with how the rex bay is, its probably just easier to get a really good intercooler setup as the air sucked into the turbo's will be heated purely by passing through the super hot turbo's anyway! if that makes sense :D

Yeah that makes sense. thanks for that.
I'm spending far too much time on e-bay. lol :D
