Im on my 1st RX and Im loving it apart from the heaviest steering ive ever come accross.
Are they all like this (absolute bugger to park)?
Did they ever come with power steering, or is there anyone who sells a retrofit kit?
I love driving it apart from the slow heavy steering, which will probably end in my selling it if I cant make it a bit better.
Any ideas?

unfortunately I think they are all like it.
powersteering was an option in the US but a LHD steering box is never going to fit in a RHD car :(
What size tyres have you got on the car ? The steering is heavy but I soon got used to it ... although I very rarely park my car anywhere other than the garage.

Something like 7 or 7.5 x 17.
I'm looking to replace them though - the ride is too hard with 40 profile tyres.
What size are your minilites? Are you on 40 profile?
Im not sure how wide they should be.

no, they are 205/50R15's
how wide are the tyres at the moment ?
because changing the wheels is not going to change the how heavy the steering is if you keep the tyre width the same ... the standard tyres for 1st gens are 205mm's wide so you aren't going to notice much of a difference if any.

I don't think you will gain much with the steering from changing those wheels (appart from probably making the car handle better and improve the ride)
