which bit broke then ? it looks like its running in the photos (if its ideling a little high ... was it on the choke ?)

Duff battery & dodgey starter. Hopefully not missing flywheel teeth.

Well its gonna need a new sarter now alright cos i broke the old one getting it off. Bugger.

I went to my local parts place to get oil and they tried to sell me semi synthetic 5w/30.

I read on the this site somewhere that you should only use mineral based oil - Castrol GTX 10w40 i think.

They only had Castrol 15w/40.

Should I use either or neither??

Both will be fine in your 12a N/A motor.
