http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v255/sim_rx3/my%20car/myrx3_08.jpg

Ok, now where to start...
It’s a 1974 series 2 rx3 sedan and this is what is being done-
body colour might be candy apple red but I’m still thinking original colour, which is what she is now.
Interior will be oyster colour leather interior if car is red. If gold havent decided yet.

*13bt motor (bridge ported)
*T45 holset turbo but could be looking at GT42R
Currently HOLSET is 55mm compressor wheel with 70mm exhaust wheel. (WHICH IS FOR SALE)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v255/sim_rx3/my%20turbo/sim10.jpg

* custom manifold with water to air intercooler.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v255/sim_rx3/my%20car/LPGmanifolddesign.jpg

* LPG throttle body
* Haltech ignition computer with Straight LPG.
* Supra TT 6 speed with custom vertical gate shifter
* 9" diff with 4.56 gears
* Original steering setup is being replaced with electric powersteering pump from a holden vectra and rack (if anyone has the wiring diagram for it would be muchly appreciated)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v255/sim_rx3/my%20car/DSCF0306.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v255/sim_rx3/my%20car/DSCF0321.jpg

* Front suspension is full custom (like the Gemini that won summernats) with coil over shocks.
(Shock towers have been removed from the body in the engine bay as aftermarket crossmember has shock towers on it)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v255/sim_rx3/my%20car/a-armrFrontBig.jpg

or like this -

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v255/sim_rx3/my%20car/a-ifsdeluxeBig.jpg

* Rear suspension is 2 bar link (like a toyota landcruiser 80 series) with watts linkage and coil over shocks (rear shock towers have been removed to make way for sub box)
* Pbr disk brakes (330mm front, 300mm rear disks) drilled-slotted disks all four corners (Brembo 6 spot calipers on front, Brembo 4 spot rear)
*Firewall smoothed over and brake/clutch pedal boxes used will be mounted under the dash
* mechanical water pump replaced with davies craig EWP
* Stud pattern and offset changed to falcon (sick of Simmons on Mazda’s, no offence)
*False drop tank has the Gas tanks and battery in it
(Also done to make room for sub box)
* Twin 3.5" exhaust system with rear mufflers sitting either side of drop tank with 5" outlets
* All inner guards will have been lifted 3" without changing external lines of the body to make room for new rims-tires
* Rims are 20”x8.5” with 245/35/20 tires on all four corners

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v255/sim_rx3/wheels/billetspecialistsslgseriesslg02cang.jpg

* 4x recaro seats. Extra 2 for rear seat configuration with parcel shelf to be moulded to come down around recaros to give it the "bench seat look"

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v255/sim_rx3/seats/recaros.jpg

* 2x clarion dual voice coil 12" subs
* 2x clarion splits (a set for front and a set for the rear)
* Mazda 121 bubble boot hinges used for boot and bonnet hinges of rx3 to give it a funky look when opening/closing.
This is so far, so basically I want 20” rims with the body 150mm off the ground and be able to rotate the wheels for even wear.

have purchased the plates -

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v255/sim_rx3/my%20car/ERATICplate.jpg

I can wait till she is on the road gleaming her ass off with me in da drivers seat pimpin style!! lol

Hope you can make out an idea of the type of seat I want from this picture. This is me in my Road car, on (The old) Kyalami Grand Prix circuit ( Before the FIA F***ed up the track!) I am approaching Clubhouse corner.

How long ago was that Martiny?, I can vaguely makeout the seats your on about. Hows the orange 2 doing have you had any luck with your motor transplant yet, would be great if you could get it back to "even" near its normal self, Love that colour on the RX2's by the way, my mate had 1 (coupe) does the job nicely.

All the best anyways

Hey sim sorry for the delayed response, the cold slows my brain down to a walking pace these days. I am originally from wollongong. Born and bred there for the first 24 years of my life before escaping. Spent 6 longs years mucking about with old skool stuff with spac. Still trying to recover.:rollin

Hey Sim, just wondering about legality type stuff. The front suspension that you are planning seems a top idea. Have you found a sympathetic engineer to agree to your wacky ideas?
Also wondering if you had started work besides pulling apart stuff? I know that the wedding is...soonish so you are probably busy with that. Hope it goes well, cheers, michael.

hey micheal yeh it is a big job. ive got a couple of engineers that said they will put pen to paper for me so its cool.

basically the way im looking is ICV - individually constructed vehicle.

so everything has to comply with the ADR's of today.

the rules are heaps different and really tough (will cost extra) and to get around the pollution laws in seriously considering gas ie straight LPG.

ive made a few decisions too.

im definetly going bridge port turbo.

im selling the holset turbo and getting either a GT42R or GT42RS turbo!!:evillaugh

travellinbob
1st February 2005, 10:01 AM
oooooh baby. I havnt heard a great deal about the ICV laws but can well expect them to be quite harsh. LPG sounds like a good option, especially if you bridgeport it i guess. More overlap=more unburnt fuel =more polution I would reckon. Could be wrong though.
What are you going ot do with the gear from the original set up?

sim_rx3
3rd February 2005, 05:41 AM
most of the gear is already sold.

Hey Carl.
Well it was quite entertaining! And look at how high she rides, too. I'll bet it was fun to watch.

The racing I did was pretty much open to anything, because it was run on a handicap system. So the times were worked out from your practice times. We all started at different times, with the theory that we should all cross the line together! With 30 something cars, the last lap was very busy!

Anyway, I would drive that RX-2 the track, take off the hubcaps, do my racing, put the hubcaps back on, and it was then my daily drive for the rext of the week. Fantastic cheap motoring/racing!

I could only afford standard road tyres - we used to try and get Uniroyals. Now, a lot of guys I raced against had slicks, and I could outbrake/outcorner some of them!

Wish I could find a handicap formula here .... one day I will have an RX2 on the track again......
