Does anyone know of an insurance company that will insure for 6 month periods as my car is to be of the road over winter times.

Was with tesco and they wont do this only yearly period. Also my renewal came in at nearly £3k.:rollin - Oh how I laughed!!!

I am 25, 2 years NCD, clean licence, garaged, standard bar cat back. anyone any nice experiences.

Not sure if they'll do less than a year but I'm 25 and have had a quote of just over £900 FC from Norwich Union for mine which included 20,000 miles, business use and parked on the driveway overnight. So far it's the only one I've had for less than £1k and nobody else will give me business cover. Might be worth giving them a call. My boyfiriend works for an insurance company and apparently NU are trying to get into the import market at the moment so they're trying to undercut everybody.

Just counting down the days now until I can pick it up :D

Try Aon or similar for a limited mileage quote for a full year. short term policies tend not to be valid towards building any NCD.
If the car will be garaged for half the time then I'd guess you're not racking up the mileage, but if you're expecting to hit less than 10-12k per year it will probably look to the insurance companies like a sweet low mileage (read lower risk) deal.
It may come out at a similar price and it will build more NCD...
