Rotary water system insurance!

Because many sealers on the market will completely block the small water ways in a Rotary, MRP have been testing this sealer for the last few months before announcing this product for use in Rotary engines .

Many of you will know that some RX-7's have suffered from water seal failure and in some cases Rotor housing porosity and this product will possibly give insurance aganst these problems before they even start.

For more details please visit:-

This water sealer is available for all models of the RX-7 and is listed in both the Engine & Cooling section and also the Service Items section.

What would happen if you added Holts Radweld to a 13b EGI engine by any chance ????

Would it mess up the waterways ??

Had to put something in today to sort my rad out.

Hi Shaun,

You should be O/K with that one as is only a Rad sealent but there a lot of "block weld" type sealers on the market that are not good in a Rotary and will block waterways.

Well I for one have ordered 2 bottles of this stuff as I am a firm believer that this could actually work. The physics of it suggest it should and hence the reason for trying it out. Its a small price to pay against a rebuild or at least ensure the rotary endures a better life span before it is time due to water seal failure or related illnesses.

Hi Clive,

Slim chance here, but can the product be used as late on as when the first signs of coolant failure become apparant?

Hi Chris,

Absolutely no promises that it will cure a seal that has gone but we have known it cure the startings of seal failure and it's better to have it in the system to work on a leak or a failure before it happens rather than after.

This is why we have said it's a Rotary insurance rather than a cure for everything.

We have been very cautious testing this for some 6 months with various vehicles I have worked on, selected customers and a Rotary engine builder before putting it up for sale through our on-line shop.

I can say that I used this on Clive's recommendation around 4 months ago when my TII started to show some early signs of failure. I was a little skeptical but not too worried as I have a few spare blocks. Anyway, touch wood so far its worked fine, no more iffyness in the water at all and no other worries.

(Bear in mind I spotted my water seal issues at a very early stage - i don;t know what your chances are as the problem gets worse, but for the sake of a few quid its got to be worth it!)

Good call Clive :god

maufacturers website quote:

K-SealŪ or Seal-Up?
What is the difference between Seal-Up and K-SealŪ?

Seal-Up is the original cooling system formula and is based on Sodium Silicate technology. This is very effective at sealing leaks throughout the cooling system but it has one drawback. If Seal-Up mixes with antifreeze and is heated then a reaction can occur leading to coagulation of the compounds in the cooling system and potentially causing blockages. As a result it is essential that the system is drained before and after treatment (as per the instructions on the product). It is not necessary to use any special flushing products but some users like to run water through the system after draining it.

K-SealŪ is a newer formula which has proved to be as effective as Seal-Up but has the added advantage of being compatible with all known types of antifreeze. As a result the product can be added directly to the cooling system without any special preparation. It can even be used as a preventative additive where no problems are present.
We continue to stock both products because Seal-Up still has an excellent reputation and loyal customer base with the trade. K-SealŪ is now by far our most succesful product and has become popular with the general public, trade and many enthusiasts clubs.
