Kevin Gordan (Kev Yorks) would be best to answer your questions on this as he has the most highly modded 20b cosmo in the country.

Is the car you've seen in the UK or Ireland? If Ireland and its one of Eddie Doyles motors it will be sound. In general the biggest issues are the electrics make sure they are all working. Gearboxes are prone to blowing if the oil hasn't been changed often enough, but theres no way of really checking this and on a 20b the extra torque kills the rear suspension bushes which are mega expensive so jack up the back end grab the wheel top and bottom and push, pull top and bottom to check for any play. There should be a little but hardly any. If there is then negociate the cost of rebushing into the price. As regards the engine they don't tend to be as stressed as a 13b but it would be worthwhile getting a compression and sniffer test done.

The unique flavour of the Cosmo can often mean that once you have tasted the goods. You may not want to change.

My Cosmo is 12 years old now. Could go & get an "02" RX-7 if I wanted but thats not what its about. I hope you get a 20B Cosmo & enjoy something unique & tastefull.

You can get the parts if you know where to look. The only hard to source bits are the E shaft centre plate and tv screens.

Good news is that the eccentric shafts can be bought NEW from xtremerotaries.com guys in Melbourne (Land of Oz)

New centre bearing centre plates can also be purchased NEW from Xtreme too.

Are they any cheaper than the American ones though Dave?

Have been told by Rohan Ambrose (GURU motorsport / Xtreme rotaries) that he supplies to Mazda USA where his 20B shafts are sold as a "Mazdaspeed" item at a seriously inflated price.

Go direct is my advise.
