what do u guys do about insurance on a FD3?

Im 21 and ive been told by tesco's i must have a cat1 alarm(fair enough), but i also must have a Tracker(???)

do you guys have trackers? the cheapest one they allow is £550, on top of my £2,000 a year premium.

I am 25 and have just paid £977.50 fully comp with protected no claims thrown in from Chris Knott on (0800)9172274, I had to have a CAT1 but didn't need a tracker, it may be worth speaking to a guy calle Paul.

i'm guessing from yer age you aren't able to fall in the classic car bracket for insurance c/o AON etc, unless yer car is over 10 years old? So i wouldn't be that surprised about tracker i had to hacve one on my UK scooby at the age of 24 when i first bought it & that was around £1500 with a few years NCB. So er to summarise try yer luck with the various other insurers which get good press on here if you haven't already but i woudn't be surprised if tracker was classed as a must have certainly if yer not able to get in the classic bracket :(

It does state this when getting on-line quotes on the tesco weby for imported rex's. But i seem to remember someone saying that they rang tesco insurance up and they allowed him/her to have just a cat1 alarm and no tracker for the same premium.

Do a thread search on insurance, as i'm sure it is fairly recent (i.e. less than 3months ago).

I rang tesco's and it must have a Tracker, probably due to my age.
That was on a 1996 type R.

I've got my 96 Scooby Sti and my FC Turbo II insured with 5 yrs ncb mirrored on both for £1400 for the pair (£800 scooby, £600 rex) i'm 30 but park on street in a high crime area limited mileage of 4000 on each. that was through a broker Basildon Insurance - speak to Charoltte 01268 270886 insurance is with Footman James.
