Got an interesting Cosmo in the yard this week.
Fixed many issues with it already such as fault codes, vacum leaks, air leaks, tank sludge etc & it was running fine but gradually over 10km has become a bucking pig.
No fault codes present. Almost every part swapped to be sure. Injectors removed & cleaned
Feels like "limp mode" again but its not possible.
Question. Although fuel pressure gauge says there is 35 - 40 - 45 psi can there still be a fuel delivery issue such as "flow".....???
On the straight its fine. Boosts well etc. Come around a bend & try for any throttle & it bucks & carries on. Tank level = 70% full

70% full Dave means the fuels just over the upper edge of the pump, do you think the seal joint may of split where the pump enters the feed pipe. On cornering its in clear air and pumping there rather than down the feed line. You also mention tank sludge, have you had the tank out another option could be the feed holes into the surge tank section of the fuel tank are partially blocked and the fuels a bit slow getting into there.

Kev.
You are brilliant. I would not have thought of that one.
I have had the tank out, cleaned some sludge from the insides aswell as the strainer on the pump itself. Never even thought to look at the feed pipe.
I'm getting the owner to bring it around again this coming weekend so will pull the tank back out to investigate that option further.

Dave good luck with the fuel lines and cable clips. Why they never made everything longer so you could ease the tank back before disconnecting everything I'll never know.
My cars evolved again this year a few more jobs to do then i'll send you a update for the site.

Hi Dave,
While your "in the tank" have a look for any thing just floating around,
A few years ago I lost a few race wins after having something hiding in the tank that gradually got drawn to the stack pipe after a few laps we replaced just about every thing ignition and fuel system related including the pump before we found it!.
Let us know how you get on and if it's none of the above we will think again for you.

Got the Cosmo back on the wekeend. Took the tank & pump back out & inspected the feed pipe. Couldn't fault it.
Replaced the pump for another 20B item & the car is now driving like a dream. Told him about the price of the pump thanks to the supply-vs-demand issue with them so he opted for me to install a generic aftermarket pump for just AU$200.
New pump is a little noisey compared to the factory one but it works even better as the pressure is up 15% on the previous pump & the flow is excellent too.
Did near 20km of driving at speeds up to 150km/h on boost & it never failed. rang him to come & collect his machine & he was happy.
I suspect the pump must have been half dead & was continueing to drop off in performance.
Here is a list of issues fixed on this particular one.....
01. Air leak between AFM & TB
02. Vacum leak on secondary thermostat
03. Vacum leak on PCV circuit
04. Failed 1-way valve on vacum circuit
05. Faulty Auto trans temp sender
06. Fault code #35 (TDES-2 soleniod)
07. Dodgy boost control valve
08. Sludge in tank
09. Clogged fuel filter
10. Failing pump
11. Clogged injectors
Fingers crossed he doesn't ring me again...........:Nono!
