you may have to get a shorter belt for your alt so as to bring it down a bit so that you can bring the bar down to clear the bonnet
remeber adding tax and p&p will double most US retails.
Cheap strut braces may not fit any car to well.
My Trust brace fits very well (but was'nt cheap)

Yes and no,
Yes its not as cheeps as it looks, once you have added the Tax and P&P there is not much between buying in the US and UK.
I have bought alot of stuff from the US guys, apart from the steering wheel being on the wrong side the Engine,Box,Diff and genral lay out is the same.
As long as you dont buy things like Turbo kits and steering componants you'll be ok.
If you want some advice try buying bits from Japan, they have the wheel on the Correct side and you'll have no problems.

what would the tax be on it ??
after umpteen mails to the company involved - they have said expect to pay $30 for the part and $45 for shipping - which is $75 which works out at £45 shipped
i assume this is a good price as i spoke to JIMMY'S and he has never seen a strut brace on a 2nd gen
Anybody got any idea where you can get a 2nd gen strut brace ! Or what to pay for one ?
thanks guys !

Try racing beat in the states to get an idea of how much they are
A strut brace isn't really a super complicated part to make, maybee it would be cheaper to have one made up in the UK ? or even an existing supplier in the UK
have you rung round the usual suspects ?
eg.
RXmotors
WGT
rotechnics
etc. etc. ?

you are looking about 150 - 180 USD , and i cant find one in the UK - third gen ones are kicking out at about £311
the one on ebay worked out cheap - but its the fact if it doesnt fit then you are stuck with it
the woman on the email seems most friendly and aswered most questions
she even said she would supply cheaper with bulk orders!
the last quote i got was for a :
Strut Brace
K&N Cone filter thingy
Delivery
was $100 which is about £60 - £70 - still cheap but again will it all fit !
i fancy one as a mate has put one on his 306 GTI6 and says it handles a lot better
just out of interest how would you get one made up ?? and where would you start ??
thanks

Higgi may be able to helpwith getting one manufactured, If its somthing that fills a gap in the market he might put them into production
By all acounts he did a good job on the short shifter kits and he has some other nice products in manufacture now
at the end of the day all a strut brace is, is a pair of brackets that bolt to the strut tops and bar that bolts between them
Designing one would be a fairly simple task as long as you had some dimensions to work from
P.S the reason US prices are cheap is because they have a bigger market to aim products at + consumers tend to concentrate on low prices so companies don't put as big a mark up on stuff (you'd be suprised how much profit companies make on stuff like strut braces etc. etc.)
Cheers,
Mike
