Can anyone give me any advice on a good company to approach for insurance on a 1994 Type R RX7?

I'm in the process of getting one but when I've tried to contact insurance companies they've told me that they couldn't insure me to do more than 5,000 a year and then only if it's a second car. Not much good when going to and from work will probably be about 15,000. I don't really want to keep my current car once I've got the new one :(

I've had the same story from AON and Sureterm which seem to be some of the main ones mentioned on here. Flux don't seem to want to talk to me so I don't know about them...

Surely it's not that hard to find somebody who'll cover me? I'm 25 with 7 years NC. I just want to be able to drive my new car :D

Tesco have been giving good quotes out recently. On the plus side you can get a quote online, to save having to talk to someone :)

Thanks, probably have to do some more research though before I use them because I got stuck on their quote thing when it asked about a tracker. Don't have a clue on what the differences are between all of the different ones and I don't think it's got one at the moment. Unfortunately it wouldn't let me do a quote without one :(

They are all the same. Just make one up to get a quote so you know if its reasonable, and if it is then you can budget for the tracker.

Thanks

They came back with about £950. Does that sound reasonable? I guess it's about what I was expecting but it would be nice to get it lower.

Wishful thinking I expect. Still got a few weeks at least to sort it

Budget on around £600 to £1000 for a tracker system, and remeber that tesco online quote system is ONLY quoting on a completely standard car.

There have been some reports on these pages that quotes have doubled, trebled ( one as much a 5x) once all mods are declared.

something to bear in mind.

Flux don't seem to want to talk to me so I don't know about them...

They can be surprisingly difficult at times, but they made me a good deal, so I'm insuring with them. I did the whole thing via E-mail, they always responded next day, very helpful. It might help, I suppose, that I already had a car insured with them. Give them another try though, especially if you've got any mods. You lose nothing but a few minutes of your time if you send an E-mail :)

I insured with Tesco today actually, I had been through the quote a few days ago and it came out at £1436.00

However today when ringing them back it seems the guy who quoted me originally didn't put the non-standard exhaust system on there so it went up to £1540.00

Was not too impressed but went with them anyway, decent quote !
