Hi all,

I'm over in aotearoa at the moment, just heading north from dunedin. But I'll be spending a few days in Tauranga at the end of my stay... So I was thinking are there any bits worth picking up? Are apexi power fc's any cheaper here? Plus I could get one in my luggage easy enough!

P.s. I've onlu seen one FC on the road and one FD on a trailer in all my travels! but it is cold down south!

Cheers,
Mark

I think the Green Brothers are still there (Maleme street). Nocamz moved to Auckland i'm pretty sure. Yeah, you really need to take a day trip to Auckland to visit the big names - KiwiRE, Mazsport, Rotarypower, RX7 Heaven, etc.

Also if your passing through these places, Lawton Rotorsport (Paraparaumu), Rotamax (Taupo), RE-Sinclair (Christchurch), The Turbo Shop (Dunedin), Rotech (New Plymouth)

Not sure about Apexi's but Microtech, Link, Haltech, etc are popular there.

Did you visit St Clair Beach during your time in Dunedin? That's where I'm from! ;-)

Cheers guys, I sadly pickup the message on my last day in Tauranga so we spent it with friends and my gf's family, so fair enough... Don't think she'd have been too pleased if I went galavanting off for parts ;)

But I'll be over there early next year again, so will go prepared and not need to do so much traveling, so will have more time to mooch around :D

We were staying in Maori Hill in Dunedin, so nice stroll into town, but then the road through Middlemarch to Queenstown, excellent fun! So quiet and no car handles quite like a hire car! LOL!

And Lake Tikapo was just amazing! Is St. Clair Beach worth a look?

I think next time I'll try and get a bit more prepared before I go... And take much less luggage :D

Middlemarch is quite freaky i always think! You kinda expect to see tumbleweed floating past! What about those crazy rock outcrops everywhere on the way there! A bit like the moon i always think.

What did you think of the colour of the lake at Tekapo? You can take a photo of it but it never quite captures it! The scenery around Tekapo is breath taking!!

St Clair is basically at the end of South Dunedin. Kinda the opposite side of the city to Maori Hill. If you like surf beaches it's worth a look. The Esplanade resturant is really good too. I still own a house there. It's a great atmosphere on a sunny day when our street is packed with families making their way to and from the beach.

Yeah, Central Otago did seem a bit wild west! With all the gold prospecting, big skies and weatherboard buildings!

I'll dig out some of the pictures we got... But we ended up with about 800+ pics... Eek!!! But I think we got some good shots from the observatory on Mount John... Also I now know the relevance of the southern cross and why it's always on your flags!

I like the fact the church there didn't have stained glass and instead just looked out over the lake, very cool.

It's not near the bird / albatross place is it? We went there, didn't see many birds, but went to the beach and saw some seals lounging about.

And this was a superb road up through the Crown Range from Queenstown to Wanaka, real excellent twisties! God I love those hire cars :D
