I doubt anyone in the UK will have such items in stock.
I know that NewEra Parts (banner advert at the top or http://www.neweraparts.com) can get anything from Japan - depends if RE-Amemiya still have the parts or manufacture them.

Hi kev
At last another cosmo owner. Have you managed to find an induction kit from a UK vendor for the cosmo as I suspect an FD one will not fit.
Cheers

Ricky just remove the stock filter and replace it with a cone filter the main bottle neck in the induction is the MAF sensor as opposed to the filter its self which theres not a lot you can do about while running the stock ECU. The next upgrade you want to look at then is a decat.

Thanks Kev,
Had a look at my exhaust on the ramp today, think I got a mid cat which splits into two, each pipe then goes into an intermediate box before getting to the back box. Was that similar to your setup?
My plan was to get an FD HKS downpipe then get a custom setup from there to a couple of back boxes, just not sure which back boxes to use. Can you recommend any?
Thanks again

If you want to keep you stock box, please tell me is it like the fd with cold feed, then it will be better with a K&N panel filter.

Hi Gary,
The stock box does have a cold air feed and I would normally go for a K&N panel replacement but when I checked the air box after I bought the car it had a mazdaspeed element fitted so no need.
Was hoping that there was an induction kit that could take it a bit further without the need for a piggyback ecu just yet.
Thanks

Yeah mazdaspeed is good. Not sure if a cone filter would be better, what have you found Kev, might flow more air but it would be warmer, do you think its worth the trade off?

As your running a 13b its a different set up to what mine used to be. You will probably find there is a precat in the downpipe as well. Theres loads of room to play about with on the Cosmo so you've lots of options. The straight through resonator type boxes are what i'm using this year two mids and two rears. At tickover and off load reving there suprisingly quiet considering the pipe sizes i'm running this year.i'll see how loud it is on boost when i start remapping. What you will find with the Cosmo is that 90% of the parts you use will need to be modfied FD parts or custom built for the car.

To be honest Gary Cone type filter is the normal upgrade. Air temps aren't that much of a problem due to the extra room around the Cosmo engine bay and you can sit the cone directly over the cold air feed anyway. Even this year i'm still doing the same just that the filter has a 6inch inlet this time around. I'll take a few pics if i remember in the morning and post after work so you can see what i mean.

Thanks for your advice Kev & Gary, will save up for the exhaust system and piggyback ecu next I think...
Would be for me to see how you have tackled the induction issue.
Thanks again
Ricky
PS could def do a group buy on the RE kit ; )

This is a pic i've pinched from Dave Morris's site on a 20b but the induction set up is the same on a 13b and it shows what i mean.

Wow, thats a BIG cone filter.
Hmm, tempted to save for piggyback ecu first, get the car mapped as is then change the air box for a cone filter and see what occurs...

Looks like they have fabricated a vent underneath the filter in to the body work
pintglass
12th April 2007, 11:01 PM
Think that vent is standard, had my airbox off the other day and that pipe goes straight into the bottom of it

That is standard Gary in the o/s lower bumper of the car is a air inlet the gearbox oil cooler is mounted within this then it feeds up through the pipe you can see to the filter.
Ricky thats small i'll post up a pic of the one i've put on mine tommorow evening.

I use a K&N filter if you go on there website they do a on line catalog with all there filters and sizes so its just a case of going through it until you find what you want jot down the part number then ring your nearest agent.

Think at last count I had over 400 different universal filters on site all should have sizes and bhp ratings if it helps

As promised Ricky the filter is right over the cold air feed. On the stock twin setup it works just the same as in the earlier pic you just need to place the filter onto the air flow meter which puts it in the same area.
