Hi Guys/Girls

I am a newbie and thought I would do my first post, I have been monitoring the general chat from the group whilst working my way through the masses of information.

I have purchased a 92 type X from Japan, it is on a ship and will arrive late Jan, the best quote before Xmas was
AON at £890 that’s with no limit on mileage which I thought was good so I bought the RX.
I commute 60 miles a day so not really practical with the fuel consumption of the RX, a run around needed to get me too work 3 days out of the week I think.
When I limited my mileage with AON they only knocked off £50.

Today I contacted Sureterm after advice group members had posted and got an amazing quote

£333 FC
agreed price if written off.
Only down side is limited mileage 6000 and the wife is not old enough to drive it yet, not sure if that’s a down side
10,000 was £449

Cheers

That sounds like a very good quote :) can you please give us a little more info like your age if you don't mind ;), number of years no claims, points if any, if it's garaged etc etc... And what age did they say was the minimum. i.e to not let your wife on the policy?

Enjoy your rex, Wav:D

Yeah its no NCB as its a classic policy. Car has to be over 10 years old too. Im with them at the moment.

Next year (well 3 months) might give me problems now they wont do under 30's anymore.

i used them to insure the EGI and it was about 350 - i managed to get the Turbo II down to about £250 from footman james , thats with breakdown and legal - but on 3K miles per year ( oh yeah and an agreed value of 2500 !! & Fully comp )

some basic details :

car : 1990 rx7 TII
me : 27
NCB : On other car
Claims in last 4 yrs : 2 ( 1 my fault and one not )

they even accepted a CD full of piccies as photographic evidence !

its crazy - the rx7 is cheaper to insure than a standard rover 414i with 4 yrs no claims

:reallymad :reallymad This is doing my head in, I've just turned 25, which used to be the golden age where your insurance was supposed to come down to a more realistic level, and you stopped being treated like some 17 year old boy racer nutter thrashing around outside schools in a kevved-up NOVA/SAXO/PUG.
Now it seems the insurance companies have moved the goal posts again.
I expect by the time I reach 30 you'll have to be 40 to insure a sports car sensibly - if there is such a thing by then as I expect speed limits will be reduced to 5mph and electronically monitored/limited!!!!!!!!:xconfused

SURETERM - what a waste of time!!!

got through the whole quote when the guy tells me, "sorry sir as youhad more than two accidents in the past 5 years regardless of fault we cannot insure you..."

I've had 3 non fault fully recovered accidents in my company car with documentation to prove it!!!

This is odd. When I called Sureterm they quoted me £668 FC for a 92 3rd gen with wife as named driver. Me 37 in 2 weeks, she just 36. I thought that was quite cheap but how come yours is soooooo cheap Eddie?? Wonder if it's because I'm a student and students tend to make lots of claims?

Hello

That is strange, I work in computers and live in Oldham which is not the most desirable area according to insurance companies, is your car garaged?

Looks like I got a good deal then, took the policy out 1 week ago for when my rex arrives.

Cheers
