Hi,
I have a 1996 FD and when I first start the car and move off, the brake pedal is rock solid and gives virtually no braking. It needs a good push with the foot before I get the correct resistance and normal braking.
Any ideas what this might be?
Thanks
Angus

If you find out, let me know - mine's doing this as well!!
I suspect air in the system at this stage.

Sounds like it could be the master cylinder seizing?
turn off the engine when the brakes are working and apply pressure to the predal, if it keeps slowly going down it is likely to be the master cylinder.

Mine does not go to the floor with the engine off, the pedal stays hard all the time.
You really have to put full body weight on the pedal to get any braking at all.
Obviously I am not driving it at the moment!
