Right, the time has come. I've just gotten over writing off my 2nd Gen EGi (220bhp Egi at that) and I'm about to start on a series 3.
I'm planning to build a naturally aspirated, 3 rotor. I'm gonna have a budget of around 50k, but this will include the car.
What I need to knw is, how much reliable power do you think I can get out of a NA 3r? I've worked out that with a decent ECU (probably MOtec) , uprated injectors and sparkplugs + larger intake and free flow exhaust, I could reach around 450bhp. Does anyone agree with my guess?
For the exterior I'm planning on going for a 'race' stlye, so white with black or grey splitters, GT spoiler and lots of MAZDASPEED stickers and logos!

If anyone has any tips, or advice they can give me I'd appreciate it.

Cheers,

Brett

I supose it all depends on what sort of triple you want? whos building it? and what are you going to use it for?

To get 450 bhp from a NA even a triple will need some radical porting and that means big fuel bills and very little low end power.

I dont get what you are doing? if its for track use thats diffrent but why fit a Na triple that cost lots of money when you can spent that same money on a Fd Turbo 13b engine and get 450-500bhp no problem and be able to turn the boost down to make it more drivable?

in some australian mag i read about first gen with 3 rotor peripheral ported putting down to wheels 320kw...porting is cheapest way to get power of course and cost you nothing :)

u got money to make it, but if you will be happy with 450 hp at flywheel (about 360 hp at wheels), than u could make 5 cars for 50k budget....

FC with 360rwhp at wheels for $15k (its about 10k yours pounds i think)

streetported 13B engine $2000
single turbo setup (manifold, turbo, wastegate, downpipe $2000)
Haltech E11 standalone fuel management $1500
decent TII with blown engine could be find in europe for as little as $1000
upgraded clutch/lightened flywheel $800
fuel pump $100
2 big injectors $150
greddy FMIC (huge, direct drop in unit) $900
complete coilover system from k2rd $900
big radiator $450
RB swaybars/endlinks $250
polyurethane bushings $90
brake pads $90
brake rotors $170
braided steel brake lines and clutch line $120
apexi N1 catback $400
blow off valve $150
K&N cone intake $30

total about $11k USD.....

thats about everything whats important and what will get you to 450 hp range easy

with streetported 13B u will have better gas mileage and no fitting issues like with 3 rotor....

Stick with the Gen 3, they are alot easyer to get good Hp and you dont need to uprate Internals.

To get genuine 450 bhp that is drivable dont mess about trying to put triples and that sort of stuff, just find your self a Good tuner (Pip at WGT) and 50k will get you a fantastic car.

A big ported Triple will not be nice to drive and unlike a 13b Turbo will have a small power band and will be very high up the rev range (good for race cars not so hot in trafic).
