After ringing round, I have decided to go for Norwich Union, £1219 Fully comp 10,000 miles a year, Protected No claims. (I'm 25)

So I have insured a runabout car for now in prep for my FD!! shouldn't be long now :)

I thought it was O.K really considering my little bro paid around 1200 quid for third party cover on a 1L Fiesta when he was 17! And An old git of a mate is paying 1K on an EVO 8 FQ300! and he's 46!

And this is a full policy, no second car etc :)

For others looking for insurance I would suggest the following:

AON - Only if you want limited milage and a second car
Sure term - If you are 30 or over

Norwich union - Seemed helpful and a good quote
Highway - Good quote but no Protected no claims
Chris Knott - Uses AON etc so had to be over 30 for most of the policies

I was 25, had 5 years NCD and was paying 845 with sure term direct, though that was limited to 6k a year.

Exactly mate, I could get it down to 770 odd with limited milage etc, but I want this car to drive, I love to drive and would hate to be limited, plus I'd always worry about what milage I'd done so I thought I'd go for the whole hog so I can drive it when ever I please :)

My boss is has just got a 911 GT3. Only 40 in uk and he's paying 600 quid! Makes me wanna puke. A light cluster on that thing would be double that.

Catch is Porsche are renowned for their reliability, and the parts can be cheap (stock front pads are cheaper than for a MX-5 ! (I used to work with a 993 owner and we'd done the sad thing of comparing prices), both of which help reduce the cost of premiums.
