Does anyone know where I can get a set of either oem or poly bushes for the back end of my new 13b cosmo and what sort pf money they would fetch?

New Mazda ones are loads of money. Dave DMRH in Aus is looking into getting some polybushes made up for the Cosmo but has not got them done yet. Are you sure you need bushes a certain amount of play is normal because they are metal spherical bearings not plain bushes.

Afraid so Kev, knocking sounds over bumps, had it up on the ramp today for a look see, everything else is solid. Would you believe that it has a Mazdaspeed panel filter? How cool?!

Clive can get Cosmo bits from Japan but one word of warning the price is frightening. Which bushes have gone?

This isn't actually a bush but a sherical bearing no rubber in it at all if you strip the arm from the car there is a rubber dust cover either side remove these and the bearing is located by a circlip. I've quite a bit of play in mine but thats normal for this type of joint. There's also a good possibility it is the same as used on the fd rear end if so shouldn't proove too expensive. It will be a case of getting the measurements and contacting the advertisers to check. The mega expensive one is the inner one of this pair. Don't go polybushes as that is a downgrade for this type of joint.

Thanks for the advice kev, might do that tomorrow. Will hopefully be getting the radio and speedo converter then too. Did a compression test too was getting circa 80 psi on all seals. Happy with that.

Hi Pintglass

Where are you getting the Speedo Converter from? as I need one too!!

Hi mikeysrx7

Hmm, well, I got one off flea bay and tried to fit it. Fitting was an absolute pain in the poverbial. I obviously had not wired it up right as it had not made the conversion on testing it (in fact it kept switching the auto box to hold then switching it off as well as preventing ANY gear changes!). I then proptly removed it and am making do without.

I would suggest that if you intend to get some form of aftermarket gauges installed get something that can tell you your speed as well as rpm etc (blitz do some very trick boxes that can tell you all sorts) as a lot of people I contacted regarding a speedo converter had nothing listed as the cosmo was only produced in small numbers. Alternatively if you are using a GPS unit I would rely on that.

If you really want to have a go at conversion you can have mine... ; )

Hmm, looks promising, are you going to take the plunge? If so let me know how you get on. The web site says something about fitting the unit at the back of the speedo unit, don't fancy that much, was hard enough trying to fit my one to the ecu in the passenger footwell...

I'm going to talk to them as I need to ask about delimiter chip for my friend in Germany, will do that on Tues!!

The chip is the same for all jap imports.

4 wires, live, earth, kmh in, mph out

the only thing that is different would be where you mount it and which wire you splice into.

it merely multiplies the input signal by 0.62 and outputs the result to the speedo.

Sorry if this is teaching you to suck eggs, just want to make sure you are not spending money needlessly, if you need to delimit a cosmo just gain access to the ecu's in the passenger footwell and cut the speed sensing wire, thats all you need to do.

Have done this conversion to mine and it just keeps pulling...

Just for your info, his RE-A kitted Cosmo was imported by myself back in 2004. Him has no clue on Cosmo or any Cosmo related stuff, therefor I don't need to ask him.

I have all the part numbers I need and will order the parts directly from Japan, it seems like there is no "cheaper" solution for our bushing problems.
