Urgent brake advice needed

My ABS light has been on since buying my 92 fd on wednesday, but today it was not on.The abs pump appears to be making lots of noise and under braking the brake pedal itself judders and feels very strange. I am now so worried about the car that i cannot drive it as the erractic steering and dangerous brakes have put me off.:reallymad

sounds like a good idea not to drive it till you can get someone to take a look at the ABS ... from what you describe it doesn't sound much like the usual wheel sensor failure.

Has the car had any modifcations done to the brakes ?

The car is standard apart from the clutch and exhaust, i rang Jimmys and he told me to remove the ABS fuse to bypass the ABS which i have just done and that seems to have cured it for now.
