My Car was tested on 5 Sep 02 at The Pitstop, Brize Norton Village by Ralph and the team on their rolling road. However, it may not be a true reflection of the actual power that is available for the following reasons:
1. My car is a Jap import and as such is still restricted to 110mph (but hopefully not for long).
2. I had a faulty alternator (the diagnostic IC regulator was open circuit).
3. The engine had been over filled with oil. Only slightly but enough for the oil to bleed into the air pathways and mess up the air filter.
4. The piece of tubing that connects the top of the turbo housing to the air tubing direct from the intercooler was split ever so slightly so was bleeding off air under pressure.

Normally, the power run would be done in 4th gear across the whole of the rev range but this was not possible because of the restriction which limits the car to 110mph. Therefore, the run was done in 3rd gear but there still appeared to be a slightly more dramatic drop off at the top of the rev range as the car approached 110mph. So for the above reasons these figures are slightly off but should give a general idea of what you can expect from a series 3 RX7!! All of the above problems minus the restriction have been remedied so wait for the next power update when I have finally derestricted it!!

5000 revs 157 bhp
5250 164
5500 171
5750 176
6000 179
6250 184
6500 188
6750 190
7000 194
7250 175
7500 170

Max power o/p at 6900 196bhp so change gear just before 7000 revs for ultimate performance!!!

Thanks very much Clay for this info. I'm sure other people will find it quite interesting. Hope you get the little bits sorted on your car.

Item 4 on your list could make quite a difference to the performance also. Your boost paterns should be 10-8-10 (psi) from first to second turbo. Having a gauge is a really good move to measure this - many 3rd generation RX-7's have boost problems.

Glenn

This is very true....Plus I wanted to drag up one of the oldest threads...and give it a re-birth :)
