Well I have started looking for quotes for a 92/93 FD and this is the result:

Details

Tesco - 10,000 miles, £1260

Sureterm - Have to be insured on another car etc 6000 miles - £790

Gonna try 2 more before deciding = Hill House hammond and Chris Knott. Can anyon e thik of any more insurers to try. I also tried AON but it wasn't very good.

Elephant and Adrian Flux might be worth a try, im with elephant and ive heard good things about Adrian Flux, especially if your planning on doing any mods.

The higway quote was from a brooker that ASdrian Flux use, I have it on good authority that if I get a lower quote from Flux they should beat it.

So I will try Flux to be sure.

I've been looking at an rx7 for some time. I currently own a FTO GPX and am 25, i've had the FTO for 14 months.I have 4 years NCB. Rang Adrian Flux up after falling in love with a modded rx 7 and they told me that they would charge me 3500 ! through the people that insure my group 18 FTO for 960 !

Its done with adrian flux through Equity Red Star. I do have a performance filter and mongoose exhaust, and 19in alloys. Best quote i could get, 300 quid less than tesco.

Any import can be a nightmare to insure, alot of the insurance companies just give you mad quotes because they think they are too much hassle ! When i got my fto i looked at a few things with quotes with tescos. A twin turbo lotus elan was actually cheaper to insure than my fto, and the rx7 was 300 more. Its just plain crazy.

They say the calculate it, but how do different companies get so different quotes, i had between 1100 and 8500 quoted when i first got my fto. That was without any mods !

Im not in a bad area for crime, i have a completely clean license (boring i know but i haven't ever been caught by a speed trap).
The only thing that has happened to me is that someone drove into the back of me a few years ago when i had my ax ! And they still give me silly quotes !

I know Elephant are cheap but be careful, apparantly they don't insure mods even if you declare them so if you get your £1000 worth of wheels stolen you're stuffed (locking wheel nuts - wonderful invention).

AON best for me but I'm an old fart at 30. Mind you, didn't have any ncb. I'm on a 6K a year mileage limit and I have to have the FD garaged with a Cat 1 fitted + locking wheel nuts. Plus I have to have access to another car. £419 plus I asked them nicely and they gave me the top notch RAC cover for a bargain £50. Can't grumble.
