I'ts coming up to that time when I've got to start trawling the insurance companies again.:(
Would it be an idea for us to have a section within the 'Insuuring Your Raotary' topic where we just listed what were paying and from who just giving our relevant details, cutting out all the chat and kept simple.
That way I could look to see if there was anyone with similar circumstances to mine and perhaps save time and money.
Just had my renewal from Chris Knott:
I'm a very young 53 - 6 years protected NCD - me and the wife - £250 Excess - value £13,000 - garaged.
They're asking £897.80
I will contact AON as we have a deal.

Ouch John i'm being quoted marginally over £800 on the AON deal so not using any NCB but dependant on other car <5k miles & garaged but i recall you have another vehicle & since yer not a million miles from me (although probably a less insurance friendly post code) & i'm only 26 should think they will beat that.........?

Well I contacted AON - you know they are the insurance company who are supposed to give club members a favourable deal.
From my experience, don't bother.
I'm 53
6 yrs protected NCB
Cat 1 alarm
Garaged
8k miles
Second car
Value 13k
One 40mph speeding
One accident 20 mths ago [my fault]
The quote £1,171.00
Compared with my renewal letter from Chris Knott £897.00
So the company we have a special deal with want £274.00 more, That's a good deal?
I would suggest as a club we look at other insurance companies who may be prepared to at least be competitive.
You'll also see from Si's post he was quoted £800.00 form the same company ffs I'm twice his age.
Guess I'll have to spend half a day on the phone :(

although i am well known as being a perfectly sensible person remember John http://instagiber.net/smiliesdotcom/cwm/3dlil/tard.gif
Seriously thou i guess the deal is better for those in the just over 25 bracket, of which there does seem quite a large number on here, & dunno how much it would affect it but i understood the deal was only upto 5000 miles so if they're quoting you on 8k it may also not be so fruity, NCB is also of no relevance for the AON deal which again is a bonus for me as i can then use it for the second car which if it makes you feel any better (so it doesn't just sound like i'm gloating about my healthy RX quote) is around 2/3rds of the price i'll vbe paying on FD & that's using the NCD on a carp mondeo! http://smilies.networkessence.net/s/contrib/aahmed/sad.gif also dunno how harshly yer accident & points will of made it less appealing but as they say they dont make prizes.......
While i'm making excuses i guess postcode may also not be in yer favour as you are closer to the big smoke http://mysmilies.creativesell.net/contrib/ruinkai/cheshirea.gif
Anyway i best shoot before i get lynched http://www.gamers-forums.com/smilies/contrib/slim2g/Bouncy.gif lol

I take all that Si
BUT
I do have a quote from Chris Knott £274.00 cheaper that's 25%and they don't put themselves up as doing us a SPECIAL deal.
If AON want us to promote them as special member deals - with a special contact etc they should at very least be competitive.

Chris Knott do have some kind of affiliation with MRC already, I'm sure...
My FD WAS insured on an RSA policy with AON via Chris Knott(!) a while back. Their quote was competitive - half what Admiral wanted at renewal...
HOWEVER, all my dealings with CK have been a total disaster. I will never use them again, too many promised return phone calls (e.g. I want to change this policy to another car, is this ok?/we'll call u back../I dont hear any thing/I insure car thru another company/then get letter saying policy has been amended for other car without them confirming any thing) have never been received, too many letters to them have been completely ignored and/or just not read before replying to (e.g. May 02 - Please cancel my policy please/Jun 02 - Why hasnt this policy been cancelled/Oct 02 - I know the fecking DD has been stopped - I told u to cancel the policy in May you muppets!!!). They are a total waste of time Cusomter Service-wise IMHO :(
To cap it all, when I wrote my first FD off they basically said (baring in mind I pay them to be my broker and deal on my behalf) ring AON and deal with them direct, its not our problem. Didnt even give me the right fecking number! Fortunately AON were VERY helpful and sorted the claim out in good time...
I'm sure my case is special though!??
Fortunately my cars are on a trade policy now with Footman & James...
