I fitted a complete decat Blitz free flow system (brilliant) however since, the car does not want to idle and the fuel consumption has increased to incredible levels. The exhaust did not take the standard fitted CO sensor, so had to de-activate. Any suggestions please?

without the sensor how does the car know weather its got the fuel mixture right? probably a safe default to run rich.

Hi sorry for the negative vibe, but:- It's not 'brilliant' if it causes the sort of problems you're having. To quote from Glenn Butchers guide 'What to look for when purchasing an FD (3rd gen.) RX-7':-

The turbo rotary can be an awesome but delicate engine. One of the main problems is that people start modifying them without knowing the knock-on effects. For example, changing the exhaust to a more free-flowing system without ensuring that the engine is running rich enough/and there is no boost spike/creep can very easily cause apex seal failure (which basically means an engine rebuild - expensive).

The fact that it didn't take the CO sensor should have rang alarm bells...Sorry.

Best wishes,
Martin.

Hi Wim

Sorry missed this one , from memory ( decated mine must be three years ago now ) you put the sensor to earth but if you are meaning the one in the down-pipe that would have to go back in.

All the best Clive

I'm quite new to all this and bought my RX cuz I loved the shape etc.

My car was bought with an existing Blitz system, I posted last week regarding fuel consumption, being under 13mpg and no I don't have a heavy right foot. What mpg are you geting Wim?

Would fitting a standard system make much difference to the mpg.

The cars a DREAM
Fuel a NIGHTMARE
