Clutch problems

Dose anyone know if the clutch release bearing is a known weakness on the FD?.
Mine ripped itself apart lastnight so its gearbox out and a new bearing.

They get a bit noisy but I wouldn't say its any more of a fault on an FD than any other 10 year old car ( most are that age now)
