hey folks,

having a small problem with my FD, im having problems starting it when its hot...if i drive to the petrol station to fill up the car is well warmed up when i get there...i shut the car off to fill up but when i go to start it back up its like she wont spark or fire up..the throttle has to be pumped to fire her up...when the car is cold she starts no bother

we have had a look at the throttle positioning sensor and it seems fine

has anyone had experience of this or have any ideas as to the problem

thanks folks

Have you changed the plugs recently or anything, if not it might be one of your problems ?

Does the car turn over ok but just not firing ?? Whats the mileage of the engine ?

yeah, the plugs, oil, oil filter and battery have all been changed...engine was compression tested as well and that was in the 7's front and back...the car ticks over fine, drives fine, just problems starting it from hot

Hmmm, sounds like the beginning of poor compression due to seal wear if it has trouble starting from hot ?

Might be wrong, best to wait for a more knowledgable person to arrive me thinks before i give you the wrong advice :King

Yeah, could be coolant seals - get the coolant system pressure tested: Note, this is different to getting the engine pressure tested. A Coolant system pressure test checks to see if the coolant system will hold pressure, and if your seals have gone, it will gradually lose pressure.

You don't even need a rotary specialist to do this: any garage should be able to perform a coolant pressure check - it's a common enough test

ill ask eddy doyle to do it for me...

I had a pall who had a simalar starting problem and that turned out to be a Bad coil pack. I belive if they are going they play up more when they are hot than cold???

Some thing else to have a look at.

My mates was very Intermitant, it's main problem was starting from hot but it developed a Miss fire under load (when it was just coming on Boost) which only happend every so often.

So as you are proberly doing, we checked all the ovious stuff (compression tested it, Serviced with new Plugs leads etc,)

The thing was his car ran spot on, Didn't use any water, mid 7 bar on every Bounce of Compression etc it realy stumpt us so we started swaping stuff of My fd (that was having its engine rebuilt) on to his and it just so happened when we put the coil pack on the fault stoped. Lucky realy.
