hi, just been out in 3rd gen (just bought it yesterday, is under warranty).
went out for a drive nothing too silly, turned the car off and went to get something out of the boot. After two or three minutes there was a noise coming from the engine bay so i opened it up and had a look. There was coolant dripping out from underneath the car with a noise coming from the coolant tank behind the drivers side headlight. After two or three further minutes the noise stopped and the coolant stopped falling from the car.
When i put teh keys back in the ignition the add coolant light was on and there was a beeping noise.
Is this normal? If not what do you think is wrong and advise?
At no point did i see the temp gauge rise past about a 1/3 on the standard gauge.
Regards,
Baz

Change your AST cap first as last. There's loads of threads on this subject.

Could be something realy simple like a bad cap but you are better to be safe than sorry.

If you're getting boiling noises from the engine and coolant getting pushed out of the expansion tank then before you start worrying about re-builds, get yourself a new AST cap.....about £5 from any decent motor factor.

Don't trust the standard gauge for signs of heating up: they don't move until the temperature reaches 119 degrees, which by that point, it's far too late. Either get a power FC or an after market temp gauge to monitor your temperatures.
