Test and Tune – Kwinana Motorplex

The exposure of the racecar after the test and tune was nothing short of spectacular – almost as much as the cars debut. Considerable coverage was gained on Luke Nieuwhof’s WA Drag Racing web site www.wadragracing.com with over 2000 downloads of the movie, the picture (right) in the Quit Motorplex Magazine, and photos in the Dragster Australia magazine October issue No 635.

Fast Fours Magazine

Once the engine, sponsor logos and graphics are completed, the car will undergo a full photo shoot at Jandakot Airport, for the front cover and full article in Fast Fours magazine – Australia’s fourth largest motoring mag.

New Sponsor

We warmly welcome our new supporting sponsor Golden Eagle Airlines, Western Australia’s regional airline in the state’s northwest. Long time friends and airline owners Keith and Mary Russell are from Port Hedland, and have other bases at Derby and Kununurra with a fleet of 15 pristine aircraft. Consider them when traveling in WA’s northwest on business, or for tourist flights in spectacular fashion. www.goldeneagleairlines.com (09) 9140 1181

Engine Rebuild

Progress with the three rotor engine rebuild is progressing well, with John Otter from our new supporting sponsor Otter Engines, performing the modifications and overhaul. A cooling system has been added to the car to guarantee cool rotor housing temps from half-track onwards. A new intake manifold is being designed to a more robust standard, to withstand a possible blower backfire.

Crew Details

The team crew have settled into place well, after the test and tune. Let’s introduce them:

Paul Carey

Brian Doyle
Crew Chief, engine management

Peter Clark
Start line, tender vehicle

Melissa Carey

John Rees

Crew shirts and caps are being designed and organized by Mel and should be ready for the next race day.

Sport Compact Rules

ANDRA have just released the new Sport Compact rulebook for the upcoming series (available online at www.andra.com.au ) based on the US NHRA rules. There are no surprises, as the car was built for the top PRO/R class – full race vehicles with heads up racing and pro-tree start.

Development

Progress towards a fully race prepared competitive car has been accelerated with the engine modifications and overhaul, and subsequent plans include:

- Refitting the engine to race car and start,

- Extensive dyno tuning and testing,

- ANDRA technical inspection to settle minor items,

- Car/driver licensing at the Kwinana Motorplex track.

- Adjustments and fine tuning of the tune and suspension.

Web Site

Keep up to date on the car’s progress on our new web site www.blown3rotor.com being written and commissioned soon.

Have you seen the video of the first motor going during its first outing? Wow!

Yeah!

I have been in contact with Paul for some time now, (before the car was finished). I knew that these guys would be on to something good as one of his mates "Zappier" runs a 6 second doorslammer.

Paul said the engine was completely standard, and it didn't damage that much when it let go.

Be awesome to see how the next engine goes - will be dowelled and ported etc.
