I've had my 3rd gen for a week now and there of a couple of things I need help with:

I have a dashboard light that seems to suggest the engine has a 'warm up' period. Is this like a diesel, should I wait for the light to go out before ignition?

The car has rear seats - lol - and the back rest has two holes where I presume the buttons/levers should be for releasing and lowering. I have two holes with broken plastic stems just below the fabric, how can I repair these catches enabling me to lower this backrest? Should they be pushed, pulled or moved sideways?

Can I buy an owners handbook in English?

I've been driving a very long time never thinking I would ever own a car like this. They talk about big boys toys YEH!!!! :D

Hi John,

I'll try and answer your questions...

* Does this dashboard light stay on after you have started the car? what is the little diagram on the light? To my knowledge there are no such lights in an RX-7 (for warm-up).

* There should be little plastic things on the end of the two holes - that are pulled up to put the seat down. (Tom at T.W. White may be able to help you with these parts also).

* Give Tom in Service at Leatherhead (Bookham) (http://www.twwhiteandsons.co.uk/pages/leatherhead.htm) a phone at the Leatherhead branch. They should be able to supply you with a 1992-1996 English manual. There were no English manuals printed from 1998 onwards as the cars were only release in Japan - there isn't a lot of difference with them.

Or check out www.iluvmyrx7.com (http://www.iluvmyrx7.com/1993_new_vehicle_docs.htm) you can download a manual online.

Good on ya John! hope you are enjoying the car :)

An email from John

Hi Glenn.

About this light on the dash, it comes on with ignition and goes out when it starts, no prob there.

It looks like an outline of a silencer with small bore pipes from both ends. Above it are three vertical wavy lines and underneath is the word 'HEAT' This is in the instrument cluster an therefore standard equipment.

Could it be anthing to do with the 'Cat'?

I found an English handbook with all the documents supplied with the car but there doesn't appear to be any reference to this light.

I don't think there is anything wrong, I just want to know for future reference.

Regards

John.

John,

That sounds like the "Cat" for sure - and you are probably right, this light may not have been in the earlier model cars.

Hopefully Stephane's email should show you the parts you need for the seats also - thanks Stephane.
