Would someone be kind enough to post or mail me a photo showing stock wheels on a Type RS? The reason is my Rex will land soon and I want to change the finish on the wheels (photo attached on this thread....

I think stock wheels are 17inch BBS alloys...? The ones on my Rex are 18inch BBS alloys. I'd like to see what the stock alloys look like, and if they suit the car then I'll get mine finished to look like stock. Thing is - I don't know what the stock wheels look like.... Hence the request.

Also, what impact will 18inch alloys have on handling...? I know there is an impact for other cars, but I'm not sure about the Rex.

Cheers,
Si.

Hi Si,

Stock wheels on an RS are Mazda-brand 17".

I think they suit my car very nicely but it's down to personal preference I guess.

As for handling - 18"'s will handle worse. The discussions I've seen seem to indicate that 16"'s work best with an FD for track use.

The other issue with larger wheels is unsprung weight. The Mazda stock wheels are pretty much super-light. To get larger wheels at that same weight you have to spend a lot of money. Reducing unsprung weight is a very good thing.

Thanks - I think I'll go all silver! Hmmmm, would those hills in the background be the Campsies....?

The photo was taken heading out towards Skye from Inverness. Couldn't tell you exactly where as I took a hundred or so picts during the day that just happened to be the best one for seeing the wheels :) My avatar was taken on the same journey.
